Best. Dog. Ever.

Didn't want to step on a new post, but it's really hard for me to find the time to squeeze this in--tomorrow will definitely be crazy busy. Anyway, I just wanted to share that Brady has been doing a lot better...the balance has switched back to the way it usually is, which involves him worrying about me (all of us, I guess) more than I worry about him.

Here he is enjoying a trip to a local dog park this past weekend.

Sunset Glow over Lake Champain tonight

Thank a Veteran today

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

Thousands of WWI dead could at last be identified

My beloved Uncle Harold, who died too young in WWII, is buried under a cross in France.

Favourite Harvest Recipes Thread

Saute: green pepper, red pepper and onion in olive oil.
Meanwhile, heat in a saucepan: 2 cans vegetarian beans, 1 can vacuum packed corn, and 1 can petite diced tomatoes. When warmed through, add the sauteed veggies and stir. For extra yumminess add some crumbled Wheatloaf made from the recipe in the Dean Family Cookbook.
Serve with Green Mountain Tortilla strips and Salsa.
Mmmm.

The journey into Hallowe'en...

Vermont's Green Mountain Cemetery is really a beautiful resting place.
This week I will be posting photos from there, in honour of All Hallow's E'en,
not to speak of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Night. Live well!
