  1. Alan, I hope you had a good "day off" most of yesterday and are just resting or having fun, and not unwell.

    1. Actually, I hope everyone is having a good day! What's your weekend been about?
We recovered from the Covid vaccine (just a sore arm and tired), then took a drive and watched a front arrive. On Monday, we are hoping to sail...depends on there being not too very much wind. We will also be going to visit VT*Grand to bring her birthday gift, as she turned 17 on Sunday! Wow!!!

    2. Oh, yes indeed! Did I fail to post anything here? I have resumed my exercises which I had eliminated, and discovered that one seemed curative for my lower back discomfort. Just a little while ago, I added some posts to the previous thread.

    4. Great to hear your back is still good with exercises, Alan! I can say the same. For some unknown reason, I had mid-back pain for a few weeks, just on the right side. It was enough that I thought I might be getting shingles (I had missed three doses of my anti-viral), so I took the necessary amount of med...but that didn't alter the back issue. But! Exercise did the deed. What a good feeling when the pain ends!

    5. Well, we didn't get to sail, as there was too much wind and it was only in the low 60's. But! Saturday or Sunday next weekend look great. We are planning on a 4 or 5 hour sail. too...out of the Inner Bay, the Channel, the Outer Bay, through the Cut, out into the borad Lake (Lake Champlain) out around Providence Island and back.

  2. I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night
    Alive as you and me
Says I "But Joe, you're ten years dead"
    "I never died" says he
    "I never died" says he

"In Salt Lake City, Joe," says I, in standing by my bed
"They framed you on a murder charge"
Says Joe "But I ain't dead"
Says Joe "But I ain't dead"

    "The Copper Bosses killed you Joe;
They shot you Joe" says I
"Takes more than guns to kill a man"
    Says Joe "I didn't die"
    Says Joe "I didn't die"

And standing there as big as life
    And smiling with his eyes
Says Joe "What they could never kill
    Went on to organize
    Went on to organize"

From San Diego up to Maine
    In every mine and mill
    Where workers defend their rights
It's there you find Joe Hill
It's there you find Joe Hill!

I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night
    Alive as you and me
Says I "But Joe, you're ten years dead"
    "I never died" said he
    "I never died" said he

    1. Where I grew up people had positive memories of the IWW. My dad's stepfather had been a registered member of the Socialist Party, and he told of the Seattle General Strike.

    2. Where I grew up it was all AFL (my father) and CIO (my mother). Neither union had anything to say about the IWW.

    3. I am more inclined toward the CIO (at least what it used to be), which is about half way toward the IWW. Some years back there was a proposal to reorganize the IWW that would have made adjustments to the locals that reflected the current day labor market, and that would have made membership reasonable for me--- but it didn't pass.

P.S.: It seems to me that Harris is giving a master class in public speaking; her speeches continue to evolve; while keeping the same basic format, she plugs in various bits according to her audience, and continues to improve her delivery. I expect that her inaugural address will be one for the ages, like JFK’s.

    1. My adult niece is thinking DT might be screwing up so much because he actually doesn't want to be elected again. I'm not sure he has the ability to not glory-seek. But it is interesting to see how much he is messing up.
