  1. Oh my. I can just imagine! Looking forward to listening to that.

  2. Significant increase in California Valley Fever cases during recent years. [Click] It isn’t confined to California, and it hasn’t been considered a big enough problem to justify development of a vaccine. I wonder if the new methods of vaccine development might make it economically justifiable. Like other fungal diseases, there are few (and relatively nasty) medicines to treat it.

    1. As memory serves me, about 85% of people resident in Kern County for five years or more have antibodies to Valley Fever, so have been infected.

  3. The strangest insult in US politics: why do Republicans call it ‘the Democrat party’? [Click] When confronted with a choice between a Demopublican and a Republicrat, I generally prefer the former, on the principal that a publican is likely to be more agreeable than a rat.

    1. Since Joe Biden is no longer a candidate, this won't mess up the race at all. Hence Hunter's freedom to not go through a court trial. I think it stinks that sentencing is set for December 16th, given that December 18th will mark 52 years since his mother and sister died in a car crash.

  5. Kamala Harris will win election, predicts leading historian Allan Lichtman.

(AP) Having previously warned the Democrats of the dangers of removing Joe Biden from the ticket, Lichtman nevertheless forecast that the vice-president, who became the party’s nominee after the president withdrew in July, would be elected, in a video for the New York Times. --nordy

  6. In deciding when to sentence Trump, judge faces impossible task.
(NYT) [Judge Juan] Merchan has made a steadfast effort to approach the landmark case no differently than hundreds of others he has overseen. But more than three months after a jury of New Yorkers convicted Trump on 34 felony counts of falsifying records to cover up a sex scandal, the veteran judge faces his greatest predicament: He must decide whether to sentence Trump as planned on Sept. 18 or wait until after Election Day, as Trump has requested. --nordy
