  2. I am not fully recovered this morning, but I became MUCH better during the night. I am having a normal breakfast (albeit smaller than usual) as I type this. Whatever caused my problem, it was evidently not communicable, thank goodness.

    1. Oddly, it was my turn last night.
Fully 8 hours after dinner and birthday cake (Root*Center*Son's 44th), I barfed everything at 4:00am. No fever, no Covid, and no one else had any issues at all. I'm taking it easy today and am tired, but otherwise seem fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    2. So I guess I should count myself lucky. I got my second shingles shot and my DTAP yesterday. Shingoes arm is sore and if I'm not imagining it my legs are a bit weaker and less steady than usual, but not encough to matter.

    1. Since a similar event happened four years ago, one would have expected that further protections would have been put in place; but one would think many things.

  6. If you'd like a little down-home entertainment, here's a video of yesterday's Harvest Market Parade in town here. I did not attend, as It started at 8:45am. It's 22 min long and just when you think it's over, it continues. LOL. Good turnout by the Dems, too. Harvest Market Parade 2024

    1. Fascinating. You know those genealogy sites that say they can analyze your genetic background? I always wanted to take one of those tests so I could find out my percentage of Neanderthal genes. -- nordy

    2. Not one of the sites you are referring to, but I am a member of the All of Us research study that collects genetic data among many iother things. They report my genetic background as 100% northern and western European although I know for a fact one of my great-great-great grandparents was Native American.

    3. The estimates are based on the databases of the individual companies. I discovered that Dutch ancestry is not detected because the Dutch government treats it as legally protected personal information. Or at least did so a few years ago.

  9. Trump allies bombard the courts, setting the stage for post election fight.
(NYT) Republicans have unleashed a flurry of lawsuits challenging voting rules and practices ahead of the November elections, setting the stage for what could be a far larger and more contentious legal battle over the White House after Election Day.
Voting rights experts say the legal campaign appears to be an effort to prepare to contest the results of the presidential election after Election Day should former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, lose and refuse to accept his defeat as he did four years ago. The lawsuits are concentrated in swing states — and key counties — likely to determine the race. Several embrace debunked theories about voter fraud and so-called stolen elections that Trump has promoted since 2020. -- nordy

  10. Guardian: Israel launched a wave of airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen on Sunday while continuing to attack Hezbollah in Lebanon, where the Lebanese health ministry said 105 people had been killed and another 359 injured. The fresh assaults on Iran-backed proxies across the Middle East risk accelerating a slide towards a devastating regional conflict on multiple fronts.

  11. Israel likely used U.S.-made 2,000-pound bombs in Nasrallah strike.
(WaPo) Israel probably employed U.S.-made 2,000-pound munitions in its strike that killed Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah, according to a review of visuals released by the Israel Defense Forces. Analysts who examined videos of the strike and its aftermath at The Washington Post’s request said the damage was consistent with the use of multiple 2,000-pound bombs. -- nordy
