You cannot take this road unless your vehicle fits through these obstacles.
Here's Why!
MANY tractor trailer trucks have been stuck on the Notch road, for ignoring the signs that promise a $2400 fine. It's expensive to get the trucks unstuck! Last week even a tour bus got stuck.
The State is trying these out and may need to tweak them yet. Apparently the bus drove around the barriers, on the opposite side of the road (which is illegal). The stupid GPS guidance systems kept sending trailer truck drivers over the mountain to save time. Instead they got stuck for hours and had to pay huge fines for the work to get them unstuck. No amount of warning signs, lit up, flashing, saying "$2400 fine," "Your GPS is wrong" and more, kept the trucks from trying it. So they put this in and so far only one trailer truck has gotten stuck there, because it went around the barriers. So the State made it harder to get around, but the bus apparently made it.
Alan or Listener, I need your eagle eye please. Take a look at this U.S. Navy Veteran hat [click]. There's something white right below the eagle but no matter how much I enlarge the image, I cannot make out what it is. Writing? If so, what does it say? If not writing, what is it? I want to get the cap for Dad, but need to be absolutely certain it's okay for a retired captain. So, if one of you could take a gander and report back, I'd be very grateful.
The increase in numbers of US Circuit Courts (now 12) has meant that three of the Supreme Court justices now supervise two circuits rather than one. I think a reform restoring the balance by increasing the number of justices to again match the number of circuits would be very reasonable. ------Alan

It was always unethical, but after such things happened after President Reagan was shot, it became illegal. It astounds me that there are fools out there who think they can secretly sign on to a computer system and then act secretly. It might be possible to sit down at a terminal being used by another employee and use it, but that's not going to be easy. -----Alan
It leaves me somewhat in awe to realize that this storm has caused flooding as far west as Kentucky, not usually considered an Eastern Seaboard state. It's terrible. Haven't seen any specific ways to help, though I suppose donating to the Red Cross is always helpful in such circumstances.
Maybe the obstacles are a little too generous?

I wonder if it has become more of a problem since the advent of satellite navigation for motor vehicles.
