Just after 6PM yesterday our power went out, and there was some smoke--smelled like a grass fire. The power came back on about 6AM this morning--the longest power failure we have had in the almost 30 years we have lived here. The outage just affected a very small area; I didn't investigate. Maybe a transformer blew up? -----Alan
That is entirely possible. I haven't heard of smelling smoke due to a transformer blowing, but if that caused something nearby to catch fire it could have affected some lines. Around here it's usually from weather, though once it was even from a raccoon getting into the transfer station and chewing through something. Another time, a car hit a pole and our lights flickered. Curious to hear if you find out.
We missed our chance to chat with the guy at the end of the street--- he knows the most about what is going on-- but will keep an eye out for him when we go that way. We currently have a lot of dry grass outside of people's yards, albeit not dangerous amounts. -----Alan
You've got to be kidding me! He equates them?! It's not as if Harris wants all the babies aborted like DT wants all the immigrants out. I guess he qualifies as old white male. It makes me mad that he purports to represent God. Women die without access to abortion! God I trust will understand; I'm not so sure about the Pope.
Furthermore, according to the Hebrew Scriptures, God says "I set before you this day life and death. Choose life." Who has the authority to take away someone's God-given right to choose?
It's hard to say how to respond to this. Perhaps a slight downgrade in diplomatic relations? But the US currently has a charge de affairs at the Vatican. ---Alan
