I would appreciate it if you could make an effort to call me W A. "Bill" sounds like a gendered male name. (Haven't I mentioned that I came out as nonbinary a couple of years ago?)
I know it's been 20 years, but the inspiration we got from Howard Dean still sustains many of us, especially those of us who do the groundwork in the 'red' states/counties/towns & villages. We have a special opportunity for a personal conversation with the former DNC Chair on Friday evening, after the Convention. Message me for details, especially if you remember the MeetUps, the bus trips, petitioning for People Powered Howard. Hoping to see some of the original Deaniacs there - Andrea? Tom Janowski, Monica Gilligan, Mary Ellen, Teri Mills, Jessica Falker, (and everyone who remembers Marsha and the Crushies...). Thanks Judith for hosting! My email is still the same, or just IM me here.
If you’d like to be on the call, go to Jane Dodd’s FB page and Message her! Her profile pic looks like light blue water with three dark marks in it (actually children standing in water). If you’re not on Facebook but would like to be on the call, I can ask Jane to include you.
Need a smile? Here in Vermont we have "Front Porch Forum" which is emailed daily and posts news from locals, such as a missing pet or a found pet or something for sale or something for discussion. It's really a wonderful way to know if there's been a bear in the neighbourhood or whether there's a concert coming up or what-have-you.
Here's a recent post:
"Hi, has anyone been letting a black cat into their house lately? His name is Indy, he is very friendly and loves people. However, if you let him inside he will likely steal your stuff.
"He is particularly fond of toys (either for pets or children) and food. For context, he once stole an entire baguette. I don't know why he steals, I didn't teach him to do it, I'm not that smart. If you don't let him inside, he won't break in, he's not that smart.
"And if you're currently missing a stuffed animal hedgehog and/or a small pillow, please let me know and I can return it."
Video: Airplances of the Future: The End of the Jet Age? [Click] About an hour long, but a remarkable view of the future. Probably we won’t live to see more than a bit of it, but our children will. Electric airplanes will not be confined to science fiction. ——Alan
CSPAN is way better than CNN tonight. My impression of CSPAN has long been that they just set a camera and move it around very little. Tonight they've been awesome and professional!
Imagining the drinking game centered around the number of times Biden said "That's not hyperbole" or "I'm not kidding/joking". Anyone playing such a game is in for a rough morning after.
I watched on the Harris campaign feed. Quite a night. The President was magnificent, as usual. I liked the vertical We &heart; Joe signs. Made an impressive display. Did I spot him dabbing at his eyes once or twice?
Oops. I thought it would be over before I got home tomorrow. Hope it doesn't interfere too badly with taxis from theairport.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Bill.

DeleteYou did. I and no doubt Alan as well will be careful from now on.

Wil and I are watching the Democratic National Convention. We switched from a network to CSPAN so we didn't have to hear all the chatting.

Interestingly, August Nineteenth is the only blue moon in all of 2024.

"Airplances" should read "Airplanes" but you already had that figured out.

AOC is speaking and thanking Joe Biden.
ReplyDeleteAm watching the convention also. Unfortunately don't get CNN. They just talked to the WA state delegation. Biden is up next. --nordy

W.A., give us something you experienced or learned at the sf conventions. Dying to hear. --nordy
ReplyDeleteThe best speech Biden has ever given!!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't planning to stay up past midnight, but that was a good speech.

ReplyDeletePresident Biden just gave his best speech ever. He is still vibrant, and no mistake.

DeleteYes…because of all his daughter Ashley said about him.
I'm not one to watch conventions, but it sounds like a good one.
