US supreme court strikes down federal ban on ‘bump stock’ devices for guns [Click] I wonder if the approach to gun control used in Japan in the 17th Century might work: require that manufacturers be licensed, and then not issue any licenses. ——Alan Note: Japan was the only non-european country to develop a domestic firearms manufacturing industry after introduction of same from Western countries, and the only one to eliminate them.
That system sounds very good to me, Alan. Good luck getting it implemented though.
What is wrong with people? A firearm is a tool, nothing more and nothing less. Do guys get so attached to and their masculinity all wrapped up in their hammers and screwdrivers and garden cultivators? Good Lord! It's insane!
We had guns in the house when I was young; that was in the days before gun safes, which would have been a good idea. I will never forget what my father told me: "A gun is not a toy; it is not a noisemaker. It is for one thing, and one thing only: to kill." -----Alan
It's a terrible pity that ordinary people are hurt by all this. Meanwhile, presumably Putin remains unaffected? How degraded do the country's assets and resources have to become before he takes notice?
Putin has obviously feared assassination for a long time, and taken extensive preventive measures. If he were to flee the country to preserve his life, I don't think he would be able to survive as long as Trotsky did. There is also the possibility of an exit comparable to that of Nicholas II, or that of Mr. Hitler. Maybe an aortic aneurism (of the 38 caliber variety). I anticipate that we will see. ----Alan

The guns that were in the house when I was growing up were there to kill ducks and maybe squirrels. I wonder why nobody mentions that now.
DeleteMaybe assault rifles don't work well for either of those?
