    1. Wil went over to Loch Nest tonight to mend some electronic issues (with success! Yay!). Apparently, the former owner being a florist, the wiring was a bit wonky. But Wil's major in college was electrical engineering, so it's in great shape now. Every time we go to the boat we make it a little better.

    2. The marina has a live webcam, which is fun because we can peek in and see how our boat is doing. Tonight, while making dinner, I was watching to see if I could tell when Wil would be heading home. I noticed when we walked around on the boat because the mast would sway a little from the movement. Then! I could tell he was testing the electronics because the foredeck light came on and went off. (Gee, maybe we could do Morse Code. LOL) Best of all, I happened to catch him walking down the dock, so I knew he was about to tell me he was on his way. 🤣

  2. Video: Jury instructions in Trump case. [Click] Interesting— it isn’t necessary for the prosecution to specify, or for the jury to agree, about the defendant’s intention that turns the crime into a felony. As explained, it makes sense, although it is surprising.

  3. The Shaky Foundation of Trump’s Lead [in the polls]
[Click] Beside the fact that polls have little if any predictive value. One could ask President Dewey about that.

    1. Forced? These *are* adults we're talking about, right? The only thing that should *force* a fully functioning adult to vote one way or another is his conscience. Oh, wait, I forgot. They're not actually functioning human beings, they're MAGA-ers; so, they don't have a conscience, they don't have a soul and they don't have a brain.

  5. Experience: ‘I woke up with a Welsh accent’ [Click] I have read of other such cases. Interesting— I can understand how it could be something of a shock.

    1. Well, the current MAGA masters of the Republican Party seem to discourage the development or exercise of intelligence.

  10. Today, I came home from the garden centers to find our resident robin is trying again (4 eggs in the same nest that was raided), and the first of the Irises has blossomed! We are going to rig up some evergreen boughs to shield her nest from overhead view, so maybe it won't get raided this time.

  11. While a half hour from home today, a dash warning light came on telling me that my left front tire was low. It was 30.4psi while the other front tire as 36.5psi. Somehow, in my 68 years of life, until now I have managed to never have to add air to a tire on my own. I added a little air, but it still read low. So I added more, and it no longer registered as low, but I would have to drive it a bit to see what the new values were. I did. 47!! Ha! So there I am on a 50mph highway fearing my tire is gonna blow. I pulled over by a farm stand and looked up how to let air out of a tire. The only implement I had on hand that would help was a tiny ballpoint pen. But it worked! I let out some air. But would need to drive to learn the new value. 45! Pulled off and let out a lot more air. Still 40! Pulled off and let out more air. 36.5! YAY!!!

Sheesh! It would sure be nice if the car could've let me know on the spot what the new value was! But at least you can teach an old dog new tricks. 😆

    1. Our car has the modern remote tire pressure sensors, although it isn't clear which tire is (at least supposedly) low. I keep a tire pressure gauge in the glove compartment (the old fashioned ones with the calibrated plastic rod that pops out are more reliable but less convenient than the ones with dials) and a small air compressor that is powered from the cigarette lighter in the trunk. As memory serves me, there is no risk of the tires blowing off the rims at less than 70 psi. (When I was driving an ice cream truck--an old pickup with an insulated box in the back---, we always topped them up at 70 psi, as memory serves me.) Having grown up in the days before they were invented, the modern radial tires always look kind of low to me.

  12. Ny online group is about to start Martha Well's Witch King. For my in-person group I am about 40% of the way through Emily Tesh's Some Desperate Glory. Well done and highly recommended by another group member, but so far not quite me thing.
