I spent hours shoveling on Saturday, as we had 7" of snow (so now a total of 10" on the ground here), but we still managed to complete the renovations of the downstairs of the house, just in time for Sunday afternoon's meeting of our neighbourhood condo association, which we are hosting. It's the first in-person gathering since before Covid!
Speaking of which...somehow I missed the news that there's a new Covid booster available!! We are now scheduled to get that vaccine on Good Friday.
It was easy to tell this was a Spring Storm! I spotted a Robin chowing down in the Winterberry bushes. While shoveling (and shoveling and shoveling) I could hear the various Spring bird calls, especially the Cardinals. But the joyful surprise was hearing the first Redwinged Blackbird of the season, right in the middle of the heavy snowfall!
I wasn't aware of a new booster; will have to investigate. A while back Naomi brought home a virus that quickly spread to us, that didn't last long, but produced absolutely classic flu-like symptoms. It didn't occur to us to test to see if it was covid, but I figure it probably was. ---Alan
AFAIK, there is no "new" booster. The CDC is saying that older people shold get a second shot of the one we've already had. This apparently goes back to the idea that older people have weaker immune systems.
What I want to know is, why would any sane, halfway intelligent person stay in the GOP as presently constituted? Seems to me, all the normal folk should form their own party and leave the MAGA maggots to their filth and madness.

Per CDC, People aged 65 years and older who received 1 dose of any updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine should receive 1 additional dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine at least 4 months after the previous updated dose. [Click] It seems that the latest version is the monovalent one, which we have had. Is that the "new" one you refer to, listener, or is there one that just became available?

DeleteThis is good news, W.A., as I did not react to the booster shot last September.
