When we moved here 39 years ago, our hardiness zone was 4a. We have now passed through Zone 4b and are now in Zone 5a...! What's your hardiness Zone now? USDA Hardiness Zones
Hard to say from the map, because there is a difference of one or two climate zones between our north-facing back yard and our south-facing front yard. It has definitely warmed; this area used to be famous (or infamous) for its winter fog, but that is now a thing of the past. The lack of fog causes incredible amounts of water to evaporate from the land, increasing the need for irrigation and/or crops that require less water. They used to grow a lot of cotton around here, which requires a lot of water; interestingly, tomatoes require far less. Orchards (and onions!) generally seem to use drip irrigation now. When I used to drive out to the rural hospital where I worked every other weekend, I enjoyed seeing what was happening at the farms along the way. I did some gleaning from time to time; once I gleaned some iceberg lettuce, and it kept incredibly well compared to that purchased at the grocery stores. ----Alan ----Alan
The year I bought the land and started putting in cut down telephone poles as pilings, I built a shed, and left a high/low thermometer, and the temps looked to be in the 5a/b range. Now, on the map, I'm in 6b. Which is pretty close to Utah, where I grew up.
I gather that development of the drugs in question was funded to a significant degree by the US government. I have heard of such moves being proposed before, and believe there is a specific law enabling it. ----Alan
Comments on the last thread, and I added a photo there as well. Enjoy!

Reminds me of Truman's attempt to nationalize the steel industry during the Korean War. That didn't work. Will this?
