Granddaughter's Christmas Dairy Queen

PS:  Here's the river nearest me.
Not the highest I've seen the water,
but exceptionally high for December.

  1. The rivers are receding. Just heard that the Wrong Way Bridge in Cambridge, Vermont has again opened.

  3. Don't know why, but it's enormously satisfying living next to a river, 'tis. Merry Christmas, all.

    1. Very!

(Unless it rises and floods your basement and first floor twice in 5 months.)

I feel so for the people who lost everything in Irene, rebuilt and lost it all again last July, and got hit again this week.
Thanks to global warming, a stream is now much safer than a river.

    3. Yes, I would definitely be concerned about flooding. As I mentioned, I was very thankful for levees when I grew up a mile and a half from the Arkansas River. And people on the banks of the Des Plaines River, two miles west, have had to stack sandbags on their front lawns. Haven't heard about that recently, though. Guess the places upstream are getting better about arranging for the rainwater to soak into the ground. Seeing some of that in Oak Park as well.

  4. Our river is this morning about the same as it has been for months. The operators of the big dam upstream regulate the flow quite well.

This one is about Colorado and other sorrows of the GOP.
