As I was waking up a day or two ago I had a dream--not an unpleasant one--the theme of which I cannot now recall, but I could not remember having such a dream before. The same thing (different subject) happened this morning. It evolved into me writing a short story, which seems unprecedented. Is it from becoming old? Or having too much chocolate cake? -----Alan
After Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) filed his motion to vacate and left the House floor yesterday, “the Democratic side of the House erupted in laughter,” Punchbowl News reports.
“Not my monkey; not my circus. I’m a hard no.” — Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), quoted by NBC News, on whether he would vote to save Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
“This is their civil war. They can’t govern. They have no coalition… We just talked about our unity and unity has always been our power and that’s not going to change. We’re united in what our purpose is, and we’re not going to bail anybody out.” — Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), talking to reporters as he left a Democratic caucus meeting on Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) fate.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) “definitively” called for a vote against any procedural motion to delay the motion to vacate, Punchbowl News reports. He also instructed Democrats to vote to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-NY). The Washington Post says Democrats will not vote present and the caucus is unified
Speaker Kevin McCarthy told CNBC that he won’t give Democrats anything to buy their votes today on motion to vacate.
Yup. McCarthy is out. As he himself said, the radical right's goal is just to blow everything up. They have no plan at all for what happens now. Brilliant.
Yeah, Mayvbe not his monkey, but it is his and our circus...we're all supposed to be in the same American nation. Now we are without a House for a week, and if anything dramatic happens in the world we don't have a clear path for dealing with it. Pisses me off, to be honest. I'm not upset with the Dems, just Gaetz...and McCarthy.
I'm very frustrated. Somebody captured the photo of the ages of the back of trump's head as he entered the courtroom. His "hair" was all knotted and his vast expanse of bald scalp clearly showing in the photo. None of you guys are on my friends list on Facebook, so I have no way to share it with you. >Susan<

Doesn't sound like my experience, but everyone ages differently. Can't speak to the chocolate cake.

I particularly like Swallwell's quip: "Not my monkey, not my circus."
