The SCOTUS is standing at the edge of a precipice. If one of its gentlemen should happen to fall, a female replacement would give us a distaff majority.
Wow— news to me! The Schöningen spears—- wooden spears found together with flint tools (no handaxes so presumably not Homo erectus), and animal bones notably including butchered horses. There is one partial wooden spear from England which is a bit older. Wikipedia [Click] YouTube [Click] ——Alan
Just glanced out the window, and realized that part of the sky is still light at nine twenty. First thought was to check how far away we are from Mid-Summer's Eve. Three days (or less). One of my favorite holidays of the year.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to Alan and Bill and to all those who have or had a father they miss. Sorry I didn't think ahead to make the front page all about Dads.
We had a nice day here. Met Root*Center*Son at the Burlington Waterfront, ate out, then checked out the new Marina there. Planning a big Father & Sons sail for sometime next month.
I had two nice cards and another day off from yard work. My right leg is feeling pretty good, and we had take-out dinner from an Italian restaurant. My father passed away July 22nd 1965, 58 years ago, and I miss him still. ----Alan
My father passed away in early 1950 -- don't remember the exact date. It is only in the past decade or so that I have realized how much we were alike and how much he could have helped guide me had he lived.

P.S.: Said spears are a bit older than 300,000 years. Meant to say that.

Nice to think we have lighted evenings!
DeleteMidsummer's Eve? Is that when we dance naked around a fire at midnight? Or am I getting my holy days mixed up?

DeleteI will never forget when our daughter was young and I heard my father's words coming out of my mouth as I spoke to her.
