Only unusual because most histories were written by men. That humans are property supposedly transitioned from Roman into British common law, which categorized children as the property of the male parent. One suspects that African captives were just incorporated into the extant system of ownership and inheritance. However, it was not universal in the colonies. In connection with the opening of the Charleston Museum, it was revealed that one whole black family had always been free because two women sued to have courts certify their status as free persons.
Well, the 1917 mutiny led to the Russian Civil War, which went on for six years. Hopefully the US and other nations won't send military forces to intervene as they did back then. Unkindly fellow that I am, I hope that Russia will simply stew in its own juice for a very long time. As has been said of Prussia, it has produced more history than it can consume locally. It's economy (like that of China) seems to be doomed. ----Alan
Greetings from Chatttanooga and Libertycon. I arrived yesterday evening. Have already been on my only panel of the con, although I still have a reading and two hours on authors alley.
Three days that began super early and kept me outside until I couldn't stand the heat...then back outside once it cooled a little until dusk. But I weeded a big corner and got the new blueberry bushes planted ahead of the rainy week ahead. Huzzah! I'm ready for a rainy day when I can sleep in!

I'm all for mutiny if it ends this stupid war.

"It's economy" should read "Its economy." I think I was assisted by spellchecker.

ReplyDeleteActually, come to think of it, I planted four bushes. The other two were an Azalea and a Willow.
