    1. Our former next door neighbor built an observatory on top of his house and a (fixed) radio telescope just down the hill in his back yard.

A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds that nearly two-thirds of Republicans would still vote for Donald Trump even if he is found guilty of a crime.

Ron Brownstein: “This neatly sums up GOP situation heading into 2024: 63% of Republicans say they want a second Trump term even if he’s found guilty of a crime. Just 21% of indies, 24% non-whites, 27% under age 45, 17% (!) col+ whites agree.”

    2. Pollsters are just a sham adjunct of the press trying to shape the electorate. Along with the political parties/factions, they are illegitimate (without legal standing) interlopers in elections. Now the citizenry is reclaiming its importance and the operatives are getting desperate.
Biden got the electoral votes in Georgia because 20,000 Republican voters ignored the top of the ticket. Now Kemp is refusing to attend the Republican state convention, sponsored by a party that is paying the legal bills of the fake electors.

  4. Biden Launches First TV Ad of 2024 Campaign
April 26, 2023 By Taegan Goddard

NBC News: “The spot opens with a father and his young daughter raising the American flag outside their home, and says: ‘Joe Biden is running for re-election to make certain that the sun will not set on this flag.'”

“The Biden campaign says the spot is the first of two that will air in the next two weeks, on national cable channels as well as 15 different television markets across six battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. It’s the first window into how the Democratic incumbent’s team views the 2024 map, focused on the closest battlegrounds Biden won in 2020.”

    3. An honest man. *smile* Split infinitives constitute one of my pet peeves.

    1. He was very pleased!
Of course his other grandparents took him and his family to Disney World for the whole week (his birthday falls in the middle of school vacation)...!! So I think the telescope has paled at present. But then he'll come home.

  7. Dad saw his Coumadin nurse today. Coumadin levels are normal, phew! That's one less thing to be concerned about. The nurse first suggested Dad's problem is allergies which, rather to my surprise, he rejected. Then she allowed as how there are some pretty bad cold viruses about just now, but she offered no suggestions. Sis and I were pretty disappointed with her lack of positive input. However, he did buy a bag of cough lozenges, which is a good, proactive step. He seemed to be better today. May his recovery continue!

    2. Oh Cat, I do hope Dad improves more and more. It's so hard to watch a loved one suffer. You are surely more of a comfort than you know.

  8. Temperatures here have been in the 80'sF the past 2-3days, and are supposed to get into the 90's during the next three days before decllining. Much lower in the mountains, of course. Out of curiosity I checked the data for the big dam upstream from us; since the last time I looked they have increased the outflow by about 50%, but most of that is going into canals to the north and south; the river (which has not risen lately (and only slightly before that) is getting maybe 10% more. Behind the big dam and in multiple smaller upstream dams they seem to have a substantial amount of room for snowmelt.

  9. I'm afraid I'm going to be more AWOL than not for the next week or so. Thursday we finally actually pass papers and purchase the boat!! HUZZAH!! Then we spend the rest of the day and Friday cleaning and waxing the boat. (It's a start.). Saturday is Wil's birthday AND the start of a work weekend for the Sailing School as it has to close by May 1st. We are also giving the person who has run it for 35 years a Lifetime Achievement Award in the form of a big loving cup trophy. So that'll be emotional. Then, Monday begins my two weeks of meetings, but I'm also getting the Shingrix vaccine on Monday, which can cause one to feel ill for two or three days. Then we go to Maine for two days. And suddenly it's May 7th! Yikes! I'll try to pop in and let you know I'm still breathing! XOXOXXX
