Baby Picture!

One of the best things about cleaning out a closet is coming across something unexpected.  Recently, I found a camera with a Sandisk card in it containing 4 photos from mid-December of 2012, including this photo of Spinnaker and Mizzen at about age 8 months!  The other photos revealed that they were looking up into the Birch trees at an apparently rather exciting Gray Squirrel.  This week they turn 11 years old...!

  1. The Atlantic: Don’t Take Your Eye Off Jack Smith [Click] “The classified-documents scandal is continuing to look worse and worse for Donald Trump.” “According to the new [WaPo]report: “Federal investigators have gathered new and significant evidence that after the subpoena was delivered, Trump looked through the contents of some of the boxes of documents in his home, apparently out of a desire to keep certain things in his possession, the people familiar with the investigation said. If true and provable, that would be a major development.”

  2. The time seems to have come to put one of our cats to sleep; we thought we would lose him this past August, but he partly recovered. He is one of the three that were abandoned by the renters who lived next door, about five or six years ago. His littermate, who was an outdoor cat, passed away several years ago. The third cat still seems reasonably vigorous.

    2. Oh Alan, I am just reading this now. How difficult. I remember you wondering about this last August ... you have given him years he wouldn't have had. So very good of you and Miyoko. Please keep us posted.

  3. Former National Security Adviser John Bolton was interviewed by Margaret Brennan on CBS News:
BRENNAN: So you agree that the Justice Department was weaponized under the Trump administration?
BOLTON: I can attest to it personally.

Republicans need to read a book on Projection. They wouldn't know it if they tripped over it...which they do, all the time. Lately they've been accusing President Biden of weaponising the Justice Dept. What. a. shock.

  5. Nebraska’s Legislative Session Is Tangled Up
April 3, 2023 By Taegan Goddard

“Nebraska lawmakers haven’t passed a single bill this session,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh has filibustered on the floor of the state Legislature for more than a month. The Omaha native is intentionally delaying progress on every bill as she protests legislation that would ban gender-affirming surgeries and treatment for transgender Nebraskans under age 19.”

    From the comments:
“She also objects to the typical forced birth bill lowering the abortion window to six weeks.”
“This is personal for her: her child is transgender. I wish all people had this literal platform to defend their rights on.”

  6. No Signs of Violence Ahead of Trump Arraignment
April 3, 2023 By Taegan Goddard

New York Times: “The police, for instance, sent a stand-ready order to about 35,000 officers, a force larger and better trained than some national armies… The response is informed by lessons learned from the Capitol riot and from the challenges posed by the nationwide protests against police violence in 2020.”

“As of Sunday, neither law enforcement officials nor outside experts have picked up evidence that Mr. Trump’s defenders or detractors are gearing up for a major event.”

    1. Support for DT is waning. But he's still in the race. This serves well. He will pull support from the other Republican candidates and the Dem/Progressive candidate will win in a landslide.

  7. NYT: See What California’s Record Snowpack Looks Like, Up Close [Click] “Its depths defy easy imagining: 654 inches at Mount Rose near Lake Tahoe, 702 inches at Mammoth Mountain. When converted into an equivalent depth of water, it is nearly double the historical average for this point in the year across the Sierra’s northern reaches, where the runoff feeds several major reservoirs. In the southern Sierra, it is around triple the average.” Water flows depend upon how dry the ground is, and how early the snow melts.
The California Department of Water Resources’ latest forecasts suggest that river flows in the Central Valley through July will be at or above average in the Sacramento River Basin, but twice the average or more farther south, in the San Joaquin and Tulare Lake Basins.

  11. I was thinking of buying some very fancy ice cream while out shopping, but couldn't decide which flavor goes best with felony indictments. A flavor associated with New York City? Something with nuts? Well, I can think about it tomorrow.

    3. That list is bogus. There is absolutely NO way that "Coffee" is the favourite flavour of Vermont, NH, Maine *and* MA!!! We do not ever agree on anything. Vermont's would be MAPLE!!! In fact, it would be "Maple Creamee" (aka soft serve).

But, hey, if the Judge decides to allow cameras, buy stock in popcorn!
