woke exhausted this morning from a night of trying to perform surgery AND trying to get a cat to stop trying to sleep on my feet, which I can't imagine is comfortable, anyways. Certainly not for the human. Who knows about cats?
The Russian government is finding it harder and harder to cover up their economic problems. When their cash and gold reserves run out (probably around the end of this year) it will become pretty much impossible. In the meantime the propaganda continues. Probably the best quality information comes from a research institute (the name escapes me) at the Yale School of Business, which bases its estimates on actual business metrics to the extent that they are available, and ignores the propaganda taken at face value by many US newspapers. Food prices are taking a hit in Russia nowadays. ---Alan
I hope he does okay. He's been a compassionate Pope. It must be rough to do all he does in his 80's when he had part of a lung removed in his 20's and part of his colon removed in more recent years. Funny, when I first discerned a call to the priesthood, I had the impression that priests had to be physically whole. It wasn't too long before I recognised that, really, they just need to be emotionally and spiritually well.
Powerful storm brings more wind, rain and snow to California [Click] “Onslaught has brought severe damage, including buildings crushed by snow, flooding and homes threatened by landslides.” Today dawned clear and calm for us, then it clouded over, we had a little light rain, and now (5PM) it is largely cloudy with occasional sunshine and a light if cool breeze. Naomi and I were discussing alien stories, and I was reminded of Clifford D. Simak's "The Visitors." Best space aliens story I have ever read. The novel now seems a little exotic because it is set in an America that no longer exists, although it has not yet completely faded from living memory. It has evidently never been made into a movie, probably because that would be too difficult. ----Alan

DeleteI do hope the attempting of surgery was from dreamland and not reality.
The cats here tend to prefer Wil’s feet…as being the more warm.
