Many a status-conscious person seems to have assumed that election was a key to power available to more persons than heredity. They did not understand that the powers enumerated in the Constitution (our charter) are limited to the amount required to carry out duties and responsibilities. While "natural persons" are mentioned n the Constitution in passing, the people, who govern, are outlining what agents of government are supposed to do. As Justice Kennedy said, " the rule of law binds government and all its officials." This is not something Trump wants to hear. Not to mention that GWB REFERRED TO THE constitution as a "goddamned piece of paper," when he as told alien captives have the same rights as citizens. Oddle, there is a population born in the U.S. that has no rights--children.
Actually, Hannah, that's not quite true. (At least in Vermont.) When we were working out home schooling legislation in Vermont, we had to strike a balance between State's rights, Parents rights and Child's rights.
