  1. Bill--re being outrageous, here's a story by one of my former bosses. She was visiting her mother (who was well into her eighties as I recall, or maybe in her nineties, and they went grocery shopping. They got what they wanted, and as they approached the checkout counter there was no clerk there. The old gal winked at her daughter and said "watch this." Before the daughter cold stop her, she started bashing the checkout counter with her cane and shouting ISN'T THERE ANYBODY HERE? WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET SOME SERVICE IN THIS PLACE? and some more that I don't remember as her daughter did her best to become invisible. Clerks started coming out of the woodwork, and got them checked out very quickly. I guess another lesson the incident teaches is that your kids will never be old enough that you can't embarrass them.

  2. Hey there... I got so busy outside today [from removing Bittersweet and Virginia Creeper vines to taking out a huge invasive Honeysuckle...all necessary as we are replenishing our split rail fence] such that I just "crashed" all evening. Then I set photos for the blog through October 11th (so far). Finally, I came by to READ the blog and discovered I had all but missed Alan's Birthday! ALAN! Who keeps the blog informed day after day!?!! Mea culpa! But, I managed to get a notice up out front at three minutes to October, California time!

    πŸ₯³ HAPPY September 30th BIRTHDAY, ALAN!! πŸŽ‚

  3. Putin Is Turning Russia Into a Giant North Korea [Click] ““Such a Russia would not be just a geopolitical threat. It would be a human tragedy of mammoth proportions.” The collapse of the Soviet Union was bad; that of the Czarist empire far worse. Will this be somewhere in between those two? As for Russia becoming “an oil and natural gas colony of China,” that assumes that China can somehow work through its huge demographic and economic problems—which is far from a foregone conclusion.

  5. The PPP should only have existed one time. Mrs. Maugery's Pig looked to weigh about three-hundred pounds of lard, and stores well. So that, plus bouillon, salt, pepper. garlic salt, etc. You can get a slab of ice and store it underground and extend the shelf life of both pig and lard.

    1. Do you know, I wasn't sure entirely what you were discussing here until I looked up "Mrs. Maugery" and discovered that the PPP you're talking about must be "Potato Peel Pie." 😁. I've only watched it maybe 3 times, but we just might have to watch it again this weekend.

    2. I'd recommend doing what I did. Get a new.fresh DVD player, it'll let you play out of area, until, without warning, you can't So it you dedicate it early, no/problem

Added problem, Netflix doesn't exist any more.Soooo.
