Sunlight on the China Cabinet

  1. Al Franken has an interesting podcast with Dahlia Lithwick, a lawyer who has authored "Lady Justice" about a number female legal heroes we do not know enough about.
I might admit that my secret ambition is to see Clarence Thomas retire from the SCOTUS, so Biden can nominate another female and give us a majority.
In addition, I would argue that much antagonism towards ethnic and racial groups has actually been secretly anti-women for centuries.

My initial thought was "Jesus H. Christ." The event gives the mayor and the city the ability to straightaway do the best they can to make things as right as they can--but SOP would be to put the bean counters in charge and do the absolute minimum, fighting every inch of the way. Sometimes people pass tests of character. I remember a school crossing guard in San Jose who threw herself in front of an oncoming car to knock a kid out of the way; the kid wasn't injured significantly if at all, but the crossing guard died on the spot.

    1. That crossing guard laid down her life for that child. I hope the child had a good and caring life and the driver of the car got some remedial driving training and counseling. I also hope the crossing guard's family got some sort of serious
      compensation.

    2. I don't know what happened after the crash--I just read the story in the newspaper. I should expect that the driver went to prison.

  4. It is clear that Putin, like DT, is a malignant narcissist. He is also growing more paranoid as time goes on. Unlike DT, this guy might actually have the chutzpa use the nuclear option. I take his threats seriously.

    1. I don't know about malignant narcissim, but the guy seems unhinged. I now expect to see the disintegration of the Russian empire much sooner rather than later. The analogies with 1917 Russia seem stronger by the day--as well as the analogies with Nazi Germany in the 1940's.

    2. The column I linked to at the end of the previous thread seems to have aged well.

    3. DT is an extraverted malignant narcissist. Putin is an introverted malignant narcissist. More deadly...like Ted Kaczynski.
