Oil Painting Class
I've been taking an oil painting class via Zoom.
I really like the instructor and have learned a lot, which was the hope.
We've had three (of four) classes so far, and here's what I've painted.
Mind you, neither of these is anything I ever would have chosen to paint.
I would prefer to paint something meaningful or at least alive, like flowers.
But the point is to learn more, and that's going well. No plan to frame these. 🤣
Neat!
ReplyDeleteU.S. District Court Judge David Carter, in an opinion: “Based on the evidence, the Court finds it more likely than not that President Trump corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021.” [Click]
ReplyDeleteHe had help from a Supreme Court Justice's wife (and quite possibly the Justice himself), and said Justice ought to recuse himself from ANYTHING relating to that event.
DeleteWill Hurd thinks there are enough normal voters to deliver him the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. But is he right? [Click] Counting on the rise of the Silent Majority? Well, at least it provides some insight into a politician I didn’t previously know anything about.
ReplyDeleteHere's a bit from the Wikipedia article on Tom Kuchel, the Republican Senator of California, for whom I would have voted in 1968, had he not been knocked out in the primary by the radical GOP candidate:
DeleteDuring the 1966 California gubernatorial primary, Kuchel was urged by moderates to run against conservative actor Ronald Reagan. Citing the hostilities of the growing conservative movement, Kuchel decided not to run. He instead issued a negative statement about the conservatives: "A fanatical neo-fascist political cult of right-wingers in the GOP, driven by a strange mixture of corrosive hatred and sickening fear that is recklessly determined to control our party or destroy it!"
Sound familiar?
Yesterday was "just packed" with a neighbourhood Association annual meeting (Wil is on the Board and Treasurer; I am Secretary and Building & Grounds Chair): then dropping off my car at the shop for some spiffing up; then Root*Center*Son came for dinner and Cribbage. So I never got here to mention that it was Dean blogger Jo*in*Vermont's birthday. Was thinking of her all day. She is sorely missed. And now I'm thinking of JC too. We lost both of them in April, the year they died. May their memory ever be sweet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind accolades. I am eager to paint something interesting or meaningful.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with President Biden here.

For some reason the video at that link wouldn’t play for me;Here it is at MSN. [Click] And I agree with both you and Mr. Biden. It is long past time for the media talking heads to actually learn to comprehend standard English. Their minds might well have been dulled by the word salad that comes from Trump and his fellow travelers, but that is no excuse.
DeleteThanks, Alan!
DeleteI also sent an e-mail to Mr. Biden.
