I remember when the stadium was being worked on a few years back they discovered an unexploded bomb beneath the speaker's stand where Hitler had harangued the crowds.
My mistake; what I recalled must have been the Olympiastadion (Berlin) [Click] An unexploded World War II bomb found buried beneath the lower ring of seats of Olympic Stadium in Berlin was defused by explosives experts, the police said. The [500]-pound British bomb was found during renovation work. The 76,000-seat stadium, designed by the Nazi architect Albert Speer for the 1936 Olympics, is being overhauled for the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament. Victor Homola (NYT, 2000)
Small wonder the mainland government is doing all it can to accelerate the change to electric vehicles. I expect they will press on with construction of thorium-based nuclear reactors; they have been developing them for a long time. They started with a US government design that the US gave up on, and seem to have improved enough on it to make it practical some years ago.
But in the meantime they have a huge supply and demand problem with coal fired electrical power plants. They seem not to have taken the caution of Chuang-t'zu to heart: "Rule a large country as you would fry a small fish" (i.e., with little turning, lest it be torn to pieces).
I should expect that it is already widespread inland, particularly in places of high vaccine resistance. If it is more infectious than previous variants, the percentage of unvaccinated people need not be very high for it to spread quickly. The tendency of the unvaccinated to congregate will also enhance the spread.
Oooooo, tonight's is a very interesting (and upbeat) post from Heather Cox Richardson!

DeleteMay we hope that it is on container ship number 300 at anchor off Long Beach?
DeleteDoubt it--Amazon seems to sell mostly from in house. Think they charge extra for ersatz? I especial liked the fedora with a pull on opening. . . .
DeleteFedora with a pull on opening? I am not sure I can visualize that. A quick search at Amazon does not discover it. Link?

I bet it's also on the east coast, given that it's already in eastern Canada and the border is open.

Strange way to describe it, but that is an attractive price for a hat, and it IS a fedora.
