    1. WINTRY FEELING
      Jesse Winchester

Look how the sky's all silver, beautiful Montreal
Out of the sky of silver, snowflakes begin to fall
I sit by my window, I take my pen in hand
If I sound a little wintry, you'll have to understand.

So how is California? How is the weather there?
Where every day is sunny and where all the skies are fair
Tell me, do you remember how once upon a time
We'd sit and watch the snow fall, sharing a glass of wine?

Oh, that sad old wintry feeling
I don't really seem to mind
Sad but sweet old wintry feeling
Oh, that wintry feeling, somehow it just seems to suit me fine.

If you are never cold love, who's going to keep you warm?
You'll take the sun for granted, girl, if you run from every storm
Lord, me and this old guitar, now we've seen a storm or two
And we've seen a million drifters, these snowflakes and you.

Oh, that sad old wintry feeling
I don't really seem to mind
Sad but sweet old wintry feeling
Oh, that wintry feeling, somehow it just seems to suit me fine.

  2. Now, in Vermont, anyone 18+ who wants a booster may get one as long as they are 6 months past 2nd shot.

I'm glad because that means all the adults in our family are or will be eligible this month.

  3. Weather here continues to be our former normal for this time of year--fog in the morning, changing to overcast by mid-day. I was reading about heavy rain, high winds, and flooding in NW Washington and BC, so inquired of my relatives up there. The cousin on Vancouver Island said they didn't have any flooding there, but the main N-S highway flooded, stranding people commuting to and from Victoria. She said the most remarkable thing was when the rain and wind both picked up and the rain was falling sideways. The cousin farther south, near Whidby Island, said her little house weathered it just fine, but she didn't look forward to going to work.

    1. As for temperature, it is pretty cool here, but not freezing. Cold air flows down from the snow-covered mountains, is heated by compression, and confined by the surrounding mountains. Hard freezes are very rare.

    2. Impressive! I've seen rain going sideways (the day of my second vaccine dose!) as well as snow going sideways...blizzard conditions. I've also see frozen fog. It's little particles frozen suspended in the air, and when you drive through it, it tinkles onto your windshield. When the sun hits them, the particles melt and fall like tiny feathers.

  4. Very happy to report that Youngest is doing okay! He got a fever of 100.5 and is achy, but nothing like the heart inflammation episode he got with his second dose. Liane tells me they're finding that the issue most often shows up just once, not subsequently. So that's a huge relief!

    1. Strange, but good in the end. Thanks for the update.

  5. It's all my fault (LOL) because we plan to travel to NH for Thanksgiving. Never fails.

A 'potentially significant' storm could hit the East Coast with rain and snow during the busy Thanksgiving travel week

    1. I don't recall ever traveling anywhere for Thanksgiving; but people generally weren't given the day after Thanksgiving off when I was young. I had it in mind that it used to be the 27th of November, but Wikipedia doesn't mention that.

    2. My mother was born November 27th, 1913, which coincided with Thanksgiving that year.

    3. How sweet! Daughter was born on 25 NOV 1976, which was indeed Thanksgiving Day. We were supposed to go to Wil's parents' house for the big meal, and instead called to let them know we would not be present, but that they had a new granddaughter! 😊 She was born 15 days early, so was quite the surprised.

    4. That's a good story; it will probably be handed down for a long time.

  7. Why Health-Care Workers Are Quitting in Droves [Click] “About one in five health-care workers has left medicine since the pandemic started. This is their story—and the story of those left behind.” Allow me to suggest that everyone read this. Granted that I have been retired since before the Covid pandemic, but there is so much described here that was part and parcel of medical work throughout the forty-odd years I spent at it.
