Yes indeed, strong echoes of the rise of the fascists in the 1920's and 1930's. So far they haven't created a Blutfahne, and the original has not been recovered (it could well be among the mementos of a US soldier who was doing some liberating in Munich). If the original should be discovered, I sincerely hope it will promptly be destroyed.
In case you missed it yestere'en: Why Health-Care Workers Are Quitting in Droves [Click] “About one in five health-care workers has left medicine since the pandemic started. This is their story—and the story of those left behind.” Allow me to suggest that everyone read this. Granted that I have been retired since before the Covid pandemic, but there is so much described here that was part and parcel of medical work throughout the forty-odd years I spent at it.
Didn't get around to mentioning yesterday that my long-term primary care doctor was one of them. But at a guess he was probably in is early 60s, so it's not clear the pandemic had anything to do with it. He had stopped taking new patients a couple of years before.
I read it, despite it being incredibly long. It makes me so angry that the institution hasn't taken care of its own ~ even though that is exactly what nearly every institution does.
Now that I have read the more extensive news report, I think the prosecutorial misconduct seems both clear and extensive. It wouldn't undo anything, but I hope New York is one of the states that pays compensation for wrongful imprisonment, and that it would be paid to surviving family members should the victim have passed away.

DeleteInfuriating. And I know I would have felt this way back then, too.
