  2. Sununu Will Not Run for U.S. Senate [Click] “New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) told Politico that he did not give Senate Minority Leader Mith McConnell (R-KY) or Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) a heads up on his decision not to run for U.S. Senate.Said Sununu: ‘I guess you’ll have to let them know. I haven’t talked to them.’” Will run for fourth term as governor.

“The Singaporean government said that it will no longer cover the medical costs of people ‘unvaccinated by choice,’ who make up the bulk of remaining new covid-19 cases and hospitalizations in the city-state, the Washington Post reports.”
    Sounds reasonable to me.

“During the month of September, Texans not vaccinated against Covid-19 were 20 times more likely to die from Covid-19-related complications and 13 times more likely to test positive than people who were fully vaccinated, according to a new study by the Texas Department of State Health Services,” the Dallas Morning News reports.

At least he voted for it. (I checked that)

    1. Interesting that here we have two Republicans who seem to be hitting the furthest reaches of their willingness to follow the party line. Sununu because he already has a good thing, and McConnell because he has been dissed by DT so much that there's no hope anyway. Moreover, their constituents have probably had a *lot* to say on various issues lately.

As for the Video. Yes. Put them in jail. None of us could have done that without consequences.

  3. Really missing Catreona. Between President Biden visiting the Pope and the posting of a cat photo, I hoped she'd pop by. I have emailed her a couple of times, and the messages haven't bounced. But no response. Keeping her in my prayers.

    2. I think it is fair to say that we all miss her.

    3. I sent this exchange along to Cat. I hope she's okay.
I guess a SnailMail card is in order.

  4. I know I'm not always in my own times zone, as it were, and that a week following a time change is often unusual. But I have been so busy Spring Cleaning the house (Wait. What hemisphere is this?) that I got onto the blog today fully expecting to see Alan's photos out front, which I did know I had posted for Monday. How did I completely miss Monday? Maybe it's all that dust I've been dealing with? LOL. Anyway, I really liked those photos...!

    1. Sunday morning I woke up really early and couldn't get back to sleep, so got up at 4AM. Only later in the morning did I realize that the time had changed and I had not set my alarm clock in advance, so it was actually THREE AM! Groan, moan, take a nap in the afternoon. . .

  5. Our karaoke player in the front room (Pioneer, made in Japan, new old stock bought three years ago) malfunctioned today--something in the audio electronics. Found the same thing (surprise--from the same vendor) for an extremely good price, to arrive next Tuesday or thereabouts. Meanwhile we have the backup unit we use as a portable that plays CD, DVD and Laser Disc. Both of them play both US and Japanese discs.

  6. I’m logging out of Instagram/Facebook from November 10-13 as part of a user strike to hold Facebook accountable for the harms it is causing our society and around the world. From Covid-19 disinformation to inciting violence against marginalized communities to ignoring the mental health impact of Instagram on teens, enough is enough. We make or break Facebook and its platforms because they make money from our engagement and our data. Let’s use our power. Join me. thefblogout.com #TheLogout #theFBlogout

    1. Thanks! I hadn't heard about this and am definitely joining the logout! In fact, I just logged out, because it sounded so good and I couldn't wait! First I posted a message about it on my page, with the link. So no one will be sending Sheriff Chuck. 😆 Wil and I were talking just the other day about, during retirement, taking breaks sometimes from media of all sorts. This will be a good trial run. I'll surely still pop by here, where I can find out if I'm missing some key bit of news. Thanks again!!

    2. I don't see any of that on Facebook (don't do Instagram). Not saying it doesnt exist, but Facebook doesn't show it to me. People talk about getting news from Facebook, but I don't see that either. I get my news form Chicago Tribune, Huffpost, Quartz, and Alan.

    3. Yeah, I don't see any of it on my page either, because I won't allow it there, and I don't do Instagram. But even if I don't see it, it's happening to others, including teens. And my two eldest grands are now teens, one of whom is on Facebook. The folks who are not fixing this deserve a wakeup call.

  7. From politicalwire.com:
After Gov. Chris Sununu (R) announced he will pass on the U.S. Senate race, WMUR reports that former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) “will not run for any office in 2022.”
This is more bad news for Republicans and guarantees a messy GOP primary with Donald Trump trying to be kingmaker.

    From politicalwire.com:
Former President Donald Trump put out with a statement ripping Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for supporting the bipartisan infrastructure bill while claiming he could have gotten a $2 trillion dollar infrastructure bill if not for McConnell’s opposition.
It was actually Trump who killed an infrastructure bill in 2019 in order to spite Democrats.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said that former President Donald Trump is at war “with the rule of law and the Constitution” and that GOP lawmakers who sit by silently are aiding his efforts, the AP reports. [Click]

Said Cheney: “We are also confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before: A former president who’s attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional republic, aided by political leaders, who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.”
