Changing with the Season

  1. Alleged AQI this morning is 47, still good. But the WNW breeze we had yesterday has died--the air is still. There is a slight smell of smoke, and we can't see the foothills this morning. I assume the smoke is from the fire in Sequoia National Park, in the mountains to the SE.

    1. We are going to take a walk this morning, but I will wear an N95 mask.

    2. No, no walking today, with or without mask. As soon as I opened the garage door I smelled the smoke again. Not much, but it isn't sensible to be drawing that down into our lungs.

    1. This is locked up behind a paywall so tight that Post affiliates may only redirect one to the WaPo article directly...so, no chance of reading it.

  3. LAPD badly miscalculated weight of fireworks before South L.A. explosion, ATF finds [Click] I notice with interest that the ‘miscalculation” would be explained by confusing kilograms with pounds.

    1. "the fireworks that were placed in the containment vessel were not weighed with a scale but eyeballed by the technicians working the scene"

      What could possibly go wrong?

  5. One of my twin granddaughters, age 15, has gotten her vaccination. Her sister, the contrarian, has refused because she "doesn't know what's in it". I pulled out the grandma card and am bribing her with $40 after she takes the shot. Since her sister already did I instructed my Favorite Daughter to also give her $40, but in stealth mode. Whatever it takes, people. Whatever it takes.

    1. Obviously the scoreboard was rigged! (oh, wait. This wasn't a Bears game, was it? But we all know that Rams never scored those foru touchdowns.)

    2. I hope this doesn't get dragged out by GOPers making allegations and suing and all that crap.

But, yeah, I was just watching the CNN "magic wall" and it's looking good.
Well, not in Fresno County, of course. Sorry, Alan. At least you helped keep those numbers down.

  9. ***NEWSFLASH!***

CNN projects that Newsom defeats recall.

    Newsom to speak soon.

  10. Gov. Newsom is speaking now.

He's saying what Californians are saying YES to by their votes, such as science and a woman's right to choose, free and fair elections, etc. It'd be good to find the speech and listen.

  11. So, is Alan working on an art project or watching recall returns?

    Hope all is well.
