    2. Driving north for my Drawing class a little after noon, it was obvious that the smoke was thicker to the NE (toward the mountains) than to the NW (whence come the prevailing winds).

  4. Congress unleashes service dogs for veterans with PTSD [Click] “A study showed veterans with mental health conditions stand to benefit tremendously from canine companions.” Long overdue, methinks; but justifying a formal program through the VA of necessity takes a long time to do right.

    1. It's very generous of Canada, as last time I looked we had not reciprocated.

It would be lovely to visit our dear friend in Canada again, but with the Delta variant it feels way too soon. We haven't even been visiting family as much as we wish.

  7. And I go back to school today! WHEE! With vaccinations, N95 mask, social distancing and a gizmo for touchless opening of doors with handles and for touchless pushing of buttons (as on elevator control panels and gas pumps), as well as a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket.

You be braver than be I.

    2. Each Art instructor was allowed one in-person class; this instructor chose Drawing (introductory and intermediate, in one classroom), figuring that was the hardest to teach via Zoom, and that was what I wanted.

  8. Kiddle packing up the c r, finishing the last of his honey do's. Never fails to astonish me with the amount of things he gets done in 24 hours! And then he's going to his dad's to do the same. Some children are just a blessing. . . .

    1. Gooooooood Kid!!! We are ALL so very grateful for him!!!!

(Mine are squabbling at the moment about who may visit whom during Covid and why, and whether or not that's a copout because they don't want to visit anyway. Sigh. I know we raised them better than this.)

  9. Driving around the countryside after class, looking for picturesque subjects, I saw that the table grape and almond harvests are underway.

  10. Punchbowl News: “Senate Budget Committee [Chairman] Bernie Sanders (I-VT) may not always get what he wants legislatively. Just ask him, he’ll tell you in detail.”

“But he’s had a bigger impact on Democratic policymaking over the last decade than anyone else. He may have had the biggest impact of any politician of his generation when it comes to changing the direction of his party. This budget resolution is further proof of that.”
