  1. Recently, I went to my dentist due to a broken filling and got that fixed. After the appointment, he chatted with me awhile, and I discovered that in January of 2020 he and the whole staff likely had Covid. And I learned that, since he is the only dentist in the practice, they come to work even when sick. Heh. And I learned that he thinks we shouldn't have to mask anymore and that Covid began in a lab in China, deliberately created, but escaped the lab by accident. Wil and I discussed it over the weekend and decided we can't take chances with that level of devil-may-care. So on Monday I called the dentist office that covered for my dentist when he was on vacation and so helped me *twice* already this year, and they are happy to receive us and we get to choose which dentist we wish to see. Then on Tuesday I called our current-until-now dentist office and asked that our files be sent over to the other dentist office. So today I called the other office to make an appointment and tell them to expect the files. And guess what. I learned that "the office is closed until further notice." Wanna bet somebody there came down with Covid?! At least they had the sense to shut down the office, eh?!

Hoping all are soon well. Wow!

  3. Bidenomics Really Is Something New [Click] New as long as your memory of Democratic presidents doesn’t extend back past Clinton, that is. But finally, near the end of the column we find that [GASP!] “Joe Biden is so old that some of his core beliefs are from before the neoliberal era.” All in all, an informative look at the inner workings of the Biden administration, which is reminiscent of FDR’s administration; I recommend it.

  4. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) commented on Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who will soon be “voted off” the House Republican leadership:
“Her crime: acknowledging the reality that Trump lost the election. The Republican Party is no longer a ‘conservative’ party. It is an anti-democratic cult pushing the Big Lie and conspiracy theories.”

    1. Here it is clickified. The part after "trumpy" including the question mark might be a problem; it isn't necessary.

  6. Cheney Forces House Republicans to Choose the Lie [Click]

“I’m gonna just go ahead and say this ain’t unity. It’s capitulation to crazy, and it seems most have.” — Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), commenting on the expected ouster of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from the House GOP leadership.

  8. LAT Editorial: If ‘drought’ means a period of dry years followed by a return to the norm, California is not in drought. The current climate is the norm. [Click] “There is no drought. That phrase is sometimes used to deny the epic and obvious change in our climate patterns, but that’s all wrong. Just as there is no temporary drought in the Sahara, where heat and dryness punctuated by flash flooding is the norm, there is no temporary drought in California. The years of steady and predictable water flow are over, and there is no sign of them coming back in our lifetimes. This is it. We have to build, and grow, and legislate, and consume for the world as it is, not as we may remember it.”
