Well, the reality is that it rained a couple days, then was cloudy for a day and we are expecting snow on Wednesday and Thursday. But it'll be back in the 60s on Saturday, so it won't last long. Nonetheless, I cleaned out the garage and put my Mini into it for a couple days. All good.
Alan, I saw you post that you have 80s. I could not bear that! I salute you.
Depending on the breeze and the humidity, I can just about cope up to 90, though my preference is no higher than 85. Higher than 90 and I wilt. Though I've never lived anyplace where 90 plus degree heat was not almost always accompanied by high humidity. It's the combo that's the problem.
Yes, it is the combination. I noticed when I was growing up that when I visited my relatives in Dallas I could be comfortable at about 5 degrees warmer than I could in southeast Arkansas. And when I visited Phoenix later in life I found 100F perfectly comfortable as long as I stayed out of direct sun.
Vermont is also the only state that has 0 appointments available in its pharmacies, because as soon as a slot opens up, someone grabs it...! Root*Center*Son is hoping to get his Sunday appt for 2nd dose moved to Friday, so he can recover over the weekend and not on work days...as his workload is immense just now. Ironically, he's one of the people who keeps the software working such that doctors offices are able to call prescriptions in to pharmacies!
I suppose it is not yet quite time to have checkpoints at all entrances to the state where those who would enter must show proof of vaccination, be vaccinated, or turn back, while sharpshooter teams armed with vaccine dart guns scour the countryside searching for the noncompliant.
Maybe Bunny is still there (and not in hiding) *because* you have lousy predators on your land? I wonder if Bunny is being slow because she's preggers...? (Better than the alternative.)
Well, it actually *did* snow last night. Only a few inches and it's melting pretty quickly but this is the latest snow I can remember in April in Ohio.
Covid on a rampage in India [Click] Nothing like it in living memory. I wonder if it is going to exceed toll of the Spanish flu (estimated 17-18 million deaths).
Alan, I got the Hammurabi reference but, being more literal-minded or else more blood thirsty than you are, I'd go for the full nine minute, twenty-nine second treatment. And, yes, I realize that roughly the last three minutes he was kneeling on a corpse. He deserves nothing more nor less than the callus treatment he gave his victim. Ideally, therefore, the execution ought to take place on the public street.
I am absolutely serious about this. Derek Chauvin is not a man and he should not be treated with the dignity accorded a man. Fortunately for him, his sentencing is not in my hands.
Hmmmmm... but then Dr. Biden would be the First Dudette, no? I guess not, actually, since feminine forms of many words [e.g. actress, aviatrix] are passe.
The Fountains of Paradise was just as good a read as remembered. Now reading The City and the Stars, also by Arthur C. Clark, and In the Beginning by Isaac Asimov. The latter is a discussion of the first eleven chapters of Genesis and science.
Your post moved me to pull up the Wikipedia article on "space elevator," which is far more extensive than I had anticipated. Long story short, it appears possible on Earth during the not far distant future, and sooner on the Moon and Mars.

Rain? That's an improvement!

That is really comfortable here. Add a bit of a breeze and it is downright pleasant.

DeleteFor me, it's also about the direct sun. I have very sensitive skin and get Rosacea if I'm at the ocean too long.
DeleteSo far, 90% of Vermonters over 65 are fully vaccinated.
ReplyDeleteVermont ranks 1st in the nation in WILLINGNESS to receive the vaccine.

DeleteA little data from Tuesday:
DeletePositivity Rate is down to 1.5%
23(-5) in hospital; 8(+2) in ICU
Total deaths still 242 (No new deaths in 4 days! Yay!)
I suppose it is not yet quite time to have checkpoints at all entrances to the state where those who would enter must show proof of vaccination, be vaccinated, or turn back, while sharpshooter teams armed with vaccine dart guns scour the countryside searching for the noncompliant.
DeleteI like the way you think.
DeleteBunny is still there, but moving less than yesterday, I much have lousy predictors on my land

ReplyDeleteMy dear friend just over the border in NW PA has snow on her Lilacs...which are in full bloom in April for the first time that she can recall!
DeleteThat definitely calls for a complaint to the weatherperson!

I frequently thank God that I am not God, and that we therefore often do not get what we deserve. 😉
DeleteOur opinions are not far apart, Cat. BTW, we stopped by the grocery store this morning, and the front pages of the newspapers were spectacular.
DeleteThe Second Gentleman is visiting Vermont today! [Gee, we NEVER get visits from the top. I'm impressed.]
ReplyDelete(So, naturally, it's snowing here.)

But of course! :D Must show the state off at its best.
DeleteWhile "the Second Gentleman" is proper and classy, I must admit to leaning toward "the Second Dude."

ReplyDeleteWell, since more of the inmates are refusing the vaccine, I'm not sure what else there is to do but isolation?
