    1. Excellent! Doctor's office or some sort of mass inoculation site?

    2. In Vermont, no doctors' offices are involved in the distribution. Instead, there are state run sites and two pharmacy chains that administer the shots. We have chosen the nearest site, which is run by the UVM Medical Center. Last I knew, they were administering the Pfizer vaccine. I hope that's the one I get, as the side effects are reportedly less than with Moderna, and I do NOT want the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. I'd change to another appointment if I had to.

We'll see which sort Wil gets on Thursday (same location). Our next door neighbour got her vaccine there too and it was Pfizer. Hoping.

    3. In Illinois doctors' offices are theoretically involved but when I asked about it at my Thursday appointment I was told they had never actually received vaccine. Unless things open up at Walgreen's Penny and I will probably get ours through the Village of Oak Park. I hope we don't end up with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, but something is better than nothing.

  7. How was your March 1st? Ours came in like a Lion with snow squalls heralding the return of Arctic Air, after several days of such meltoff that our icicles are gone! Lots of ice still in the rain gutter along the north side of the house, but the spouts are clear again.

    1. Very nice, warm sun, clear sky, very slightly cool mild breeze out of the west. Many flowering trees in bloom. Absolutely wretched snowshoeing weather. . .

  8. Day two of pretty gentle flooding. Most of our snow is gone. and warm predicted for the rest of the week. I'll take it.

  10. My son hasn't had a haircut for over a year because of the pandemic. His hair was getting really long and he was so unhappy with it I gave him a "by mom" haircut. It actually looks pretty good and nobody will laugh at him when we go out in public tomorrow.

    1. I had my last haircut in September. I've been doing a bit of self-trimming, but not particularly satisfactory. I don't think either Penny or Marcus would know what to do.

    2. When I was a wild young bachelor I cut my own hair for a long time using a little comb-like gizmo holding a couple of razor blades. Not as good as a barber shop would do, but I was far cheaper than I was fussy. My sweetie has been trimming my hair for a long time.

  11. There is a new science fiction show called "Debris" on tonight at 10/9C. It's on NBC. By the makers of "Fringe" and the first show I've had any interest in seeing for quite some time.

  12. Ohhhhh myyy, I wish I'd read THIS last week for your sakes, Alan and Susan...

"There is one caution that medical experts agree on: Don't take a pain reliever before you get the vaccine unless advised to do so by your doctor. It could lessen the effectiveness of the COVID-19 shot.
"That advice, Schaffner explains, is based on studies that were done years ago on children after they had been vaccinated. While the studies weren't totally conclusive, Schaffner says that out of an excess of caution, pediatricians tell parents not to pre-medicate children before they get vaccinated, and that concept has been carried over to the COVID-19 vaccine for adults. Pain relievers are fine to take after being vaccinated to help alleviate any side effects."

    1. Yes, I've been paying close attention so I knew that. Same for after. One health worker said afterwards, if absolutely necessary, you can take a Tylenol.

    2. Because Tylenol, unlike aspirin or ibuprofen, is not anti-inflammatory.

    3. I can't imagine taking an analgesic before a vaccination; maybe before going to bed IF it hurts worse than usual.
