Happy Pi Day!

  1. Well, the piriformis prayer group *really* helped: I had three virtually pain free days. But it returned last night, and took the ribbon for worst pain in my life, an experience held since I was 12 by a stone in my appendix. The one difference was that when I was 12 I was certain I was going to die--that you couldn't be in that much pain and NOT die. This time I knew I wasn't going to die. Dammit. Ended up doing hot/cold. More cold than hot. And finding ONE position I could be in that eased it a little. So, I lived. Tried to go to bed a half hour ago. NOT a success. Anyone who's got a spare prayer, or something like it, and would care to contribute it, it would be greatly appreciated. Love ya.

    1. puddle--My prayers and three bucks might buy you a cup of coffee, but not at Starbucks. But you sure have my sympathy; that is an awful hard muscle to massage by oneself. Have you tried rolling back and forth over a tennis ball on the floor? You've probably tried everything.

    3. Unfortunately, our nerves are really unrealizble reporters. They signal pain when there is nothing wrong and make not a peep when we are being consumed by cancer cells. I think that is why acupuncture works. It makes the nerves calm down.
The spouse had his gall bladder removed via orthoscopic surgery (three tiny slots) but because the surgeon apparently nicked a nerve, he had a pain in his side for about a year. Meant nothing.
I've got a muscle that is pinching a nerve in my right leg. Nothing really wrong, but it hurts at inconvenient times.
I can see why people get hooked on pain meds. My mother's doctor prescribed oxycontin when it first came out for her life-long arthritic pains because she would have to take a pill only twice a day (she used to take aspirin every four hours). However, it was soon obvious to me that the 12 hour pill did not last 12 hours and towards the end of the cycle there were personallty effects. So, the oxicontin was discontinued and the doctor prescribed a muscle relaxing elyxir, which solved a lot of problems. Having someone to supervise the administration and record results helps a lot.

    4. 💛 Hannah, yeah, pain really takes the shine off life.
I had two years of neuropathy after a persistent case of shingles on my right temple.

❤️ puddle, it sounds like you have the kind of pain that puts a dent in life!

  2. Politico: Trump was supposed to be a political Godzilla in exile. Instead, he’s adrift. [Click] “Even allies say the president is lacking an apparatus and direction as he sorts out just what he wants to do in his post-presidency.”

  3. Snopes: Was a Man ‘Beaten to Death’ Outside Rep. Lauren Boebert’s Restaurant? [Click] There they go again, putting words in someone’s mouth. She just said “outside” her restaurant, not “immediately outside” or “near” her restaurant or anything like that. It’s reasonable to suppose that there was a man beaten to death somewhere outside her restaurant, at some time or another. It could have been in Denver, Pittsburg, Pumpkin Center or London, for instance. BTW, it occurs to me that paranoid psychosis is one of the classic symptoms of methamphetamine abuse. Maybe the decedent wasn’t the only person in Rifle who was on meth.

    1. The Cons are characteristically low on the common senses (time, place, direction, order, sequence, etc). So, they are often confused and that would seem justification enough for their state of anxiety and fear. Imagine never knowing where you are.

    1. So either Ohio no longer has Covid deaths or Ohio has decided to not record them anymore.

    2. They claim that this is because other states are not reporting deaths of Ohioans due to Covid-19 and that they are only recording deaths on the date they actually occurred. Me? I think they just don't care.

I expect the Positivity Rate to increase and hope the Death Rate decreases.
