=================================================== Former President Donald Trump’s defense team expects to finish its arguments in the Senate’s impeachment trial by Friday night, CNN reports. One day. . . ==============================================
The traditional response to an Unjust Steward is removal from office. How do we deal with an amployee that "goes postal"? Conviction by the Senate will not be enough.
The more likely problem is how to contain him if he is not convicted?Don't forget, something like seventy-five million people voted for him, and a sizeable number of those think he is the rightful, duly elected president. Also, he has some extremely scary people on his side.
I heard sort of peripherally onRachel that his defense attorneys are suggesting he can be charged by the DoJ for prompting the insurrection. I did not watch the defense but Colbert had some hilarious snippets. Bottom line is that Trump's an abuser and our legal system is not very good at dealing with abuse.
Don't remember what you said. Are you looking for a small press, or do you mean to self-publish? My dad uses Lulu. His books are big genealogy tomes though. Donno if they can accommodate novels and novellas. I do think they have an arrangement with Amazon though. I can ask him to nose around on the site if that would be a help.
My plan is to start by shopping the book to a few small press publishers, starting with the one a favorite author (Susan Matthews) specifically praised. If I don't get a positive response in a half-dozen or so attempts I'll go with self-publishing.

Two factoids: Former VP Pence just took a job with the Heritage Foundation. Boy, that didn't take long! Some fifty million Americans now qualify as food insecure. That's "hungry" to you and me.
Headline and blurb from Vanity Fair: Trump’s Lawyer Kicks Off Impeachment Trial by (Accidentally?) Suggesting Trump Should Be Arrested It was one of the very few clear points Bruce Castor made over the course of his rambling, incoherent opening
That brings the total up to enough for three hundred million people, which is probably enough for all those willing to take it.
In local notes, Fresno County was told it would be getting 8,000 doses this week, and actually got 19,000. And when I checked the vaccination web site, I discovered that the state had taken control of the reservation system. With a bit of luck, Miyoko and I may get our first doses next week. Fingers crossed. And we are getting some light rain, on schedule. I will see if I can locate information on the local reservoirs status; it used to be in the newspaper every day, but no longer.
The big reservoir upriver from here is at 30% of capacity; normal for this time of year is 43%. They have to save some space for snowmelt, and that is always a guessing game.
Wonder why it's not in the paper anymore? That's odd.
Don't remember if I said, but Dad got his first shot yesterday. I forgot to ask him if he goes back in three or four weeks. He said the operation was very smooth and efficient.
The snow removal guy never showed, so intrepid Dad, not wanting to risk getting stuck in the morning, dug out the car and cleared the driveway himself Tuesday afternoon and evening. He said there was only about three inches of snow, which was probably why the snow guy didn't come. He didn't seem to mind, but I was somewhat perturbed. He's eighty-seven, after all! On the other hand, he doesn't like to be coddled and he does enjoy puttering. It all worked out fine. Thanks for asking.
Senators swore an oath to be impartial jurors. Today, between the prosecution's presentation and the defense's presentation, a number of Republican Senators met with Trump's legal team to talk strategy. When is it okay for the jurors to meet with the defense (and strategise!) before the trial is over?? They have violated their oath! Censure only requires a majority.

ReplyDeleteA new American Enterprise Institute survey finds that 27% of white evangelical Protestants believe a QAnon conspiracy theory that purports former President Donald Trump is secretly battling a cabal of pedophile Democrats. In addition, 49% of white evangelicals express support for the debunked claim that antifa was responsible for the recent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. [Click] If I may be pardoned for saying so, that sort of thing is a risk of glorifying blind belief rather than relying on knowledge.
How Republicans Could Rig the Battle for Control of Congress [Click] I think that the new voting rights act must be nearing the top of Dems’ to-do list. How they might manage to pull it off without ending the filibuster is not clear to me.

The paper shrank considerably, and for some reason they didn't put into the online version.
