  2. Whether or not conviction happens, how many votes in the Senate would be needed to determine that DT cannot hold office again?

    1. 51 if the 14th amendment approach is used, 67 if convicted in the impeachment trial.

    1. Yeah, that bridge is a main route in the town. Stupid snowmobile. There are towns up that way that allows snowmobiles ON town roads.

    2. Seems pretty weird to me, but I don't know much of anything about snowmobiles and their inherent hazards.

House impeachment managers will show never-before-seen security footage of the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol in their presentation today, CNN reports.
They also will not use their full 16 hours to argue the case.

Twitter CFO Ned Segal was asked on CNBC whether Donald Trump could ever turn to the platform in the scenario that he returns to the White House in four years.
The answer was an unequivocal no: “The way our policies work—when you’re removed from the platform, you’re removed from the platform.”

  7. Is everyone watching the Senate trial? Any parts I have to miss due to meetings I am taping to watch in the evening. It blows my mind that ANYONE can see this trial and not convict DT. But their copout is that they don't think it's appropriate for the Senate to do this, it should be through the courts. Any Senator who shirks their duty should be held complicit.

    1. I'm not watching the Senate trial; figure I can read about it. Certainly it IS the job of the Senate, and they can't dump it into the courts. Either Trump's attorneys do not know the meaning of "high crimes and misdemeanors" or they are trying to confuse the deciders of fact (I suspect it is the latter). The precedents go back to at least 1649. [Click]

    2. I'm watching the trial by day and rewatching parts of it with Wil evenings. There isn't anything like actually watching it. And it infuriates me that half the Republicans are either absent or reading newspapers or otherwise not paying attention. They should be held in contempt of Congress!

    3. I have no doubt that seeing it is superior to reading digested bits of it; but I receive an adequate ration of aggravation as it is. It sounds like the Dems are giving a masterful presentation; maybe they could distribute it on discs.

  8. A Forgotten Black Founding Father: Prince Hall [Click] Interesting to me, particularly for its revelation of the practical importance of Freemasonry under those particular circumstances. My parents were not “joiners,” and neither am I. To the best of my knowledge no one in my family has ever been a member of a fraternal organization; no Masons, Eagles, Odd Fellows, Foresters, Red Men, Clampers, Knights of Pythias, Rosicrucians, Raccoons, fraternities or whatever. I grew up and remain suspicious of such organizations. Indeed, I avoid the lot of them like the plague. But for Mr. Hall and others I see that they were truly reasonable associations.
