Candlemaking

The funny thing this year was that the cans of white, blue and pink wax were all heated in the same pan at the same time.  Yet the white candles are smooth, while the pink are a little bumpy and the blue is crazy bumpy.  I think the white is a higher quality wax.  Ah, but the yellow off to the left is such a high quality beeswax that it melts at a higher temperature and is a bit thicker wax.  Also, note in the photos above that the yellow candles are already done, though all the colours have had the same number of dips.

    1. Sometimes you have to take what you can get.

Our plow guy (not a DT supporter) came, and now I get to go shopping.

How much snow have you, puddle? We got 7-8" atop the 8" we already had left. Snow on snow...

    2. Well it looks to me like two or three inches, but Nancy got 10 and sez everyone down here got 7 or 8, so there ya go. She was for sure not coming down this road if not plowed.

    3. In my admittedly very limited experience, Trump supporters are ordinary and often nice people, until you get them on the subject of politics, at which point they become foaming, rabid hate machines. It's actually rather frightening.

  4. NYT: The Webb Telescope, NASA’s Golden Surfer, Is Almost Ready, Again [Click] A very informative article, not just about the telescope, but about women in exoplanetary astronomy. To see so far back in time, to things that are so extremely red-shifted, the telescope needs to be kept below 45 degrees Kelvin. And the unfolding of the telescope will be an incredible tour de force. There is a documentary file about the telescope, to premiere at the South By Southwest Festival this coming March: “The Hunt for Planet B.”

  6. Today was cooler than yesterday, but not cool enough that I felt the need for a jacket while weeding in the front yard (the south side of the house). This morning I noticed that our little peach tree in the back yard is blooming; it beats even the plum in the front yard. The mountains are covered by thick clouds, which is typical, but one can still see a bit of the foothills, with snow.

    1. My opinion is that the My Pillow guy and Ricky Schroeder, who PAID the bail, should be brought in and made to sit in a cell until Kyle turns himself in.

    2. I have to admit that the first link I checked out was the one about the RICO statue. But, oh well, it turned out to be a statute. Seriously, I *had* to know how prosecutors were going to make use of a statue. I hadn't heard of the RICO statute before. Good post.

    3. I expect there is a Wikipedia article about the RICO statute and its background. There was talk some time back about applying it to Trump Inc.

  8. Lauren Boebert only got her GED about eight months ago, so maybe she didn't pass the Math Part?

  9. I made another 4 pair of candles today, for a total of 16 pair.

And we got another 3" of snow today, so I guess that's a little over 10". A little bit more expected Friday and Saturday, then even more expected Sunday.
