    1. Apologies, Alan. I went in and deleted your first post/comment and left this one because you had added the word correction to this one. But around the same time, Renee got in and deleted this one. So, most ironically, now we have neither!

      Third time's the charm?

  3. Twenty-three hours.

Our street (a two-block cul de sac) is preternaturally quiet again this morning. In half an hour of walking we saw no one else on foot, no neighbors chatting or walking their dogs. We saw an accountant presumably leaving for his office, a physician coming home, and finally an Amazon delivery truck. I began to wonder if the Trump partisans are sheltering inside, or maybe plotting revolution. It's downright odd.

“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the President and other powerful people, and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government which they did not like.”

  8. Wow. This is weird. I can log in and post, but I apparently no longer have the keys to delete posts! I have NO idear why. I'll mention it to Renee, but she was stumped last time I had difficulty.

Catreona or puddle, do you still have delete power??

  9. Ah, I just saw your post, Cat, that your keys are also gone. Hmmm.

I wonder if Renee can still delete posts!!

  12. Oh fie! Blogger must have changed something? I am down to ONE browser on my computer that I can even post from, and no browser works for posting from my phone. I feel like I'm trying to keep things going with one hand tied behind my back.

If Renee can't unscramable this, is it time to move to a new venue?

Any chance I could convince Alan and Bill to join the rest of us over on Facebook? You do not have to use your real name, and you don't have to post photos of yourself. You could maybe use your first name like you do here, and use "in California" or "in Illinois" as last name, for example. Best of all, I am able to create there what is called a "secret group." That means that only people who are invited to the group may join, and NO ONE ELSE CAN SEE THE GROUP.

I know this works because I already run a secret weather blog there.

    Thoughts?

    1. Other venues to suggest?

One positive thing about a secret Facebook group is that ALL of us could post photos and links that show pictures and such, so it would be nice that way.

On the down side, this is a nice, intimate feeling space here, fubsy as it be.

I'm open to idears. I am not okay with leaving it just like this, with none of us able to delete potential spam and such. That doesn't seem safe.

    2. I absolutely HATE Facebook's business model and don't want anything to do with them. But if there is no other way, I would give it a try.

    3. Bill's on FB. I have experience setting up and running groups, but, I donno. The idear of a secret group kinda gives me the heebie jeebies. Keep in mind, secret FB groups is where all these insurrectionists and white supremacists hang out. FB is cracking down and according to CNN there has been some movement to other platforms like Telegraph with as they say, few if any rules. Still, even before Jan. Sixth, the idear of secret FB groups kinda creaped me out. I *really* don't want to go there!

We could start another Blogger blog community. After all, we're familiar with Blogger. There's also My Journal and Word Press if you want to move off Blogger. And there's Droopal (sp?) I haven't used that in years, not since DAFD bit the dust, but one of us could look into it...

    4. Alan and Cat...

Oh, I hear ya! Facebook has little to recommend it, except that it works and it's easy and includes photos and full fledged pretty links, etc. It's glitzy.

I am part of TWO secret groups on Facebook, but as neither is trying to overthrow the government, I am not bothered by the FBI folks having a peek.

I would follow over to WordPress if needed, but as it's not much conducive to photos and whatnot, I think I'd rather follow than lead. Anybody willing to be the head Admin for that?

I've never heard of the others.

  15. But, Renee, I no longer see the "delete" option at all, nor do Cat or puddle.

    Do you still see it??

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you are talking about comments. I think there used to be a delete button right by the comments. There isn't one now. But if I go "under the hood" into the Blogger settings, I can see all the comments have a little "x" I can click to delete them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, I was speaking of Comments. I hope you have seen my posts by now.

I don't know how to go under the hood. So that leaves me out of being the daily admin.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Is there no way to restore the Delete button for the moderator/admins?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ah, I just figured out what you meant and went "under the hood" and deleted Alan's double comment.

It's a PITA way to have to do it, but I suppose we could soldier on.

Have to wonder what the heck happened, though! I'm down to just one measly way into the blog now.

  21. I kind of need some feedback from Alan and Bill about the possibility of a secret group on Facebook. (See my note above.) The rest of us are already on Facebook, so that would be easy. I fear the day is coming when I no longer can comment here at all. I'd be sure to send an email so you'd know. But what then? I'd feel calmer if we had a contingency plan.

    1. Frankly, if Alan feels uncomfortable with FB as such and I feel uncomfortable with FB secret groups, I vote we look into an alternative to FB. Another Blogger blog would be the easiest, unless the delete thing is now Blogger standard. Let me check something. BRB

    1. If it is it's incredibly short sighted! It's the ADMINS who have the Delete power. Take that away and blogs can be overtaken by spammers or worse. No, I think Blogger or Google decided to make some change and maybe don't even know they screwed up.

It's made by Boeing; that should be answer enough, I think. Sounds like they had the same sort of problem Tesla had when they were developing their heavy lifter--it wasn't enough to just bolt together a bunch of reliable smaller rockets because unanticipated stresses developed.

  26. Judging by my experience with google these past three months, I expect it's a google hiccough. They seem to be having a bit of trubble with how big they've gotten and stuff keeps falling through the cracks. Might fix itself if they notice it. I sure don't think migrating to facebook is worth not seeing double posts, though.

I'm happy to keep on here if it can be sustained. I just feel really vulnerable with it, since I have only one window (half a window now), where I used to have four. 4. Just to say, the group here should construe according to our collective wit. But I need to say that I am not willing or able to be Admin on a blog sort I've never encountered as an Admin. I'm up to my ears in new recipe efforts, learning to recreate our favourites to be more heart healthy, and shopping differently. It's taking creativity and energy...which I am very happy to apply, but I don't feel a lot of reserve these days.
But if anyone would like to be top tender, just say the word! As I said, I'm happy to follow, just not up to leading anymore. In fact, the same is true for other areas of life right now, including spiritual guide peer groups. I have officially passed the reins.
That said, I can keep on posting new photos for new threads, here, for now. At least Blogger still lets me do that!

They're saying, though, that advisors are calling it "exploding on the launch pad" because his approval rating is 34%.

Nonetheless, I hope the Senate has the sense to refuse to allow him to ever run for office again!

If trump has to live on social security and Medicare only, he will be poor enough! Given how he cheated on his taxes, he certainly didn't report his true income so he didn't pay much into social security so his monthly check won't be much.

He ought to have large resources stashed in multiple places around the world--Cayman Islands, Isle of Man, etc. etc. As memory serves me, King Farouk cried poor and had no evident resources but led a rather luxurious lifestyle in Italy after he abdicated. But what he *ought* to have and what he *does* have may be two very different things.

  33. Vermont Governor, Phil Scott, has been giving press conferences 2-3 times per week since the pandemic began. At today's press conference he was uncharacteristically slurring words and tripping over sentences. I was surprised and wondered if he were ill. Then tonight came word that Gov Scott and the state's head epidemiologist, Dr. Mark Levine, are quarantining due to Covid exposure...which took place at last week's press conferences. Apparently "a contractor who provides services" has come down with it. I'm thinking it's either one of the people who does sign language or someone in the camera crew.
