  1. This morning, not long after sunrise, we suddenly noticed a bright orange globe-shaped tree growing at the edge of a sand bank in the river bottom. Several days ago we notice what is surely the same sort of tree growing at the water's edge on the east bank of the pond/lake/river in the bottom. We have no idea what sort of trees they might be. Very pretty, though!

“I’m very, very concerned that if you solicit votes from typically non-voters, that you will affect and change the outcome.”
    — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), in a Fox Business interview.
Yep, that’s the idea, all right.

Gee; got your snowmobile tuned up, listener?

    3. We got about a foot overnight, far less than the weatherman predicted. Today was clear and sunny, if seasonably chilly.

    4. We got only about 1 1/2 inches of snow. The weather folks were holding the map upside down again.
