The message of the scam is this: Trump can still win — but only if you stay angry enough, keep tuning in to our network and keep sending those donations. He’s counting on you! All the people making this pitch — Trump himself, his White House staff, his campaign, Republican elected officials, party leaders and conservative media figures — know that it’s a lie. But it’s also the basis of their business model.
I forgot to put the Ohio COVID numbers up yesterday, so here they are for yesterday and today.
12/7 - 484,297 and 7,022 deaths 12/8 - 510,018 and 7,103 deaths
And because it's Ohio (round on both ends and stupid in the middle) the Ohio Republicans are trying to block Gov. DeWine from issuing any mask orders or business closings and whatnot.
Wow, Susan. It’s all the more poignant when you see two days’ worth together.
Ohio has 25,721 new cases in one day, plus 81 more deaths.
On Sunday, Vermont topped 5000 for the first time ~ of TOTAL cases since March. As of today, we have had 85 deaths TOTAL since March. I can’t wrap my mind around your numbers...!
But my calculator says 7103 divided by 510,018 = 1.39% death rate.
Just to add that I really think the reason Vermont has done so well is that we have a calm, reasonable, intelligent, moderate Republican as Governor. That is, he listens to the science, has excellent people in his admin ... so Dems and Progressives can hear him, and Republicans feel free to listen too. We also are the people who keep electing Bernie, Leahy and Peter Welch to Congress. And we know a thing or two about buckling down and doing our part when the situation warrants it.
Contrasting NH’s Motto with VT’s is rather telling: NH: Live Free or Die VT: Freedom and Unity
Fresno County, population about a million, has 149 licensed ICU beds. The number available varies from report to report, but has been below 10. I suppose that once those are filled, the less critical patients will be moved to telemetry units that have been upgraded a bit to second-rate ICU beds, some telemetry patients will be moved to medical-surgical beds, and the least acute patients will be moved to overflow beds in auditoriums etc. There remains the little matter of staffing the beds.
Today at the VT Governor’s news conference, we learned that they have begun to text people ahead of phoning them when contact tracing. I added the text number to my phone Contacts like this: 🦠86911
“Can I be honest? 2020 is kind of making me wish I did not work in a helping profession. “Seriously, what do you say to people who believe the whole world is a conspiracy against their religion and their president and that vaccines contain microchips? Cognitive behavioral therapy isn't enough, I'll tell you that.”

But of course. We can't have honest citizens corrupting themselves by wearing those pinko, commie masks. :P
DeleteYou know, if it were only themselves they killed with their stupidity, that would be fine. Trouble is, they endanger everybody.
Exactly, Cat.
