I was just reading an analysis of the situation. Because the relief bill is so large, it has not yet been delivered to Trump. If it doesn't get to him by midnight tonight, he can pocket it, and it is dead--Congress can't do anything about it. Cute.
I don't think he knows enough about how the government works to know that.
It's interesting listening to the news/analysis. Last night word was he might not have actually been signalling a veto. By this morning, a veto seemed inevitable. God but I hope the Congress can sort out this mess! But, I tell ya, what a bloody idiot! Does he really think a bill can be emended *after* it has passed? The more profound question is this: Is Donald Trump truly so narcissistic and vindictive that he would let millions of people starve and be evicted out of shear malice and revenge? How is it possible for a human being to exist like that, without a conscience or a soul?
Eric Trump Aide Helped Build Campaign Shell Company [Click] “The Trump campaign shell company that helped hide $617 million in 2020 presidential campaign spending was almost exclusively a Trump family production, run in part by a top deputy to Eric Trump,” Business Insider reports.
Well, yeah. It was a giveaway. Combine that with the active voter suppression of their own voters being practiced by Trump (The election was stolen!) acolytes and the ongoing GOTV efforts by Dems. and the outlook doesn't seem too bright for Purdue and Lofler.
Trump Leaves Washington In Limbo [Click] “On Tuesday night, Trump blindsided all of Washington — including his own staff. . .No one on either side of Pennsylvania Avenue appears to know what Trump’s plan is — or even if there is one. . .Said one Republican on Capitol Hill: “A complete clusterfuck.”
It seems that Fresno has become a notable coronavirus hotspot. I found that the CDC guidelines have me in the second group to get the vaccine (74 and older), but the California guidelines aren't so nice to us codgers (third group, 65 and older). So probably no chance of vaccination before I (very likely) must go to Camp Pendleton (near San Diego) for a court martial.
Wil is still not home. We had hoped for this afternoon or evening, but no word from his doc and it's looking like morning at best.
Yesterday they kept him because as they got him up to walk he collapsed and they couldn't get a pulse (code blue) and did a few minutes of CPR on him...cracking his ribs, which means they did it well.
Today they kept him because his lactic acid level rose. That can mean some cells aren't getting enough oxygen. Or it can mean he was given a lot of Tylenol (which he got for the ribs). So now the Tylenol is gone and we'll see if the level goes down or not.
But here's the fun part... Remember how his procedure almost postponed for lack of a Covid test? Well, after being in close contact with Wil all day, his nurse had to put on full protective gear to give him the Covid test. LOL! (I can only guess that's to shield the sample from an asymptomatic nurse?) Anyway, they said "We'll have the results in a few hours." !!! Soooo, they COULD have given him the rapid test when he arrived yesterday and they'd have had the results before he went into the OR??!! Gotta love our healthcare system, eh?
His nurses have been surprised that he was allowed in the OR without a Covid test.
Wow--more than bargained for; hope all is more or less back to normal quickly. Very good that they held him over! Speaking of good signs, is he complaining about the food yet? [grin]
He only complained that they kept him so busy with tests that his food was cold when he finally got to it. He rarely complains at all ~ usually he just makes witty remarks, like how they've drawn so much blood he now only has some in his toes. Ha! But he wants outta there.
Those are lovely hearts, listener. Indeed.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing Wil update. It truly surprises me that his symptoms were so mild; forewarned is forearmed.
ReplyDeleteMight Donald be trying to pull off a pocket veto [Click] of the current relief act?
ReplyDeleteSure sounds like it's possible. [Click] The timing is really close.

DeleteEvidently the relief bill can't make its way to Trump until some time Thursday or Friday. Which means that a pocket veto is one of his choices.

He is not completely human.
