The Cook Political Report catches up to our consensus electoral map by moving Iowa and Ohio into the Toss Up column.
“Iowa and Ohio join Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Maine’s 2nd CD in Toss Up. That leaves just one state, Texas, in Lean Republican. Biden is in the enviable position of not having to win any of those states to get to 270, while Trump has to win all of them, plus another two states (22 Electoral votes) to win the Electoral College.”

OHIO: As of Tuesday afternoon, there have been at least 152,907 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 4,783 deaths, and 15,413 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Sounds like Democrats are uniting behind Warnock while Republicans are still split. But regardless of which Republican comes out ahead, both parties will be represented in the January election.
Vermont Total cases to date: 1749 (+4) Still 58 deaths (now for 63days) 91 active cases in the whole state Recovered: 1601 (+11) In Hospital 1 (+1) Tests 162,747 (+822)
Reminds me of going out with my dad to our car (which had a better radio than the one in the house) of an evening when I was a kid, to listen to ball games and prize fights once in a while. Not long ago I was moved by memories to check up on short wave radios, and I discovered (I shouldn't have been surprised) that the number of short wave broadcast stations has decreased dramatically. I could spend hours poking around the SW bands back in the day.
If any one of six states (Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio or Texas) are called for Biden by close of polls on Election Night or the next day, it would indicate a likely Biden Victory. Trump cannot afford to lose a single one of them.
Oh wow. It was crazy, fraught with lies and utterly chaotic.
Jake Tapper: "That was a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck. That was the worst debate I ha ve ever seen. In fact it wasn't even a debate it was a disaster, and that's primarily because of President Trump who spent the entire time interrupting, not abiding by the rules he agreed to. ... We will talk about who won the debate and who lost the debate but the American people lost."
Dana Bash: "That was a sh!tshow."
DT really blew it. He got so hot under the collar. I think Biden did really well, all things considered. He laughed a lot, shook his head, said "That's not true" etc. It was good, really.
CNN's Van Jones: White Supremacists are celebrating online because DT refused to condemn White Supremacy and even told a racist organization "Stand back and stand by."
I watched the first hour of the debate, mostly because I had never seen Trump on stage. Got very tired to hearing two people talking at the same time. As the Fox News moderator noted in trying to maintain order, it was mostly Trump interrupting.
How about a cylindrical chamber for each contestant, which rises out of the floor when it is their turn, and descends into the floor when their time is up?
Why Joe Biden is better than Donald Trump for the US economy [Click] “It’s a myth that Republicans handle the economy better – US recessions almost always occur under the GOP.” That’s not news, certainly. But there were a couple of bits that caught my attention:
(1) “The rally in equity prices this past August coincided with a hardening of Biden’s polling lead, suggesting that markets are not nervous about a Biden presidency, or about the prospects of a Democratic sweep of Congress.”
(2) “Biden. . . is the only presidential candidate in recent history without an Ivy League background.” This is simply not true unless “recent history” only extends to 1989: List of presidents of the United States by education [Click] Then again, maybe that IS a reasonable interpretation of “recent”!
Perhaps this sounds a bit too much like Democratic hagiography, but do consider the background of the writer.
Sooooo! They were just saying on CNN that DT's performance tonight could affect turnout of Republicans, and if so it could help to bring about a Democratic Senate...!!
You mean it alienated them? That seems astounding. I will keep an eye on my across the street neighbor's Trump sign (which I noticed has become smaller and been moved back a bit).
Very good! I think ours will arrive next week, probably Wednesday or Thursday.

DeleteWhich State May Indicate a Biden Victory First? [Click]
ReplyDeleteIf any one of six states (Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio or Texas) are called for Biden by close of polls on Election Night or the next day, it would indicate a likely Biden Victory. Trump cannot afford to lose a single one of them.
Another analysis: if Georgia, Iowa, Ohio or Texas goes for Biden it will be indicative of a landslide in both the popular and electoral college votes.
DeleteSomehow it's a pretty great feeling watching a debate when you've already voted.
ReplyDeleteNo need to take notes to decide for whom to vote, certainly!
