Memorial Day Weekend
Rodica Madan
"Americans wear the symbolic red flower on Memorial Day—the last Monday in May—to commemorate the sacrifice of so many men and women who have given their lives fighting for their country."
"The Remembrance Day symbolism of the poppy started with a poem written by a World War I brigade surgeon who was struck by the sight of the red flowers growing on a ravaged battlefield."

I was in the garden yesterday until 9:00pm. Ate dinner at 10:30pm. So I’m a bit behind. Left a few messages in the last thread.

ReplyDeleteWith Siberia so hot, the resulting meltoff is releasing long frozen CO2, making everything worse.

Large amounts of methane have been released from warming permafrost for some time now; as memory serves me, methane is a more potent warming gas than is carbon dioxide.

ReplyDeleteJust 20% say the economy is excellent/good while 49% say it's poor
As Trump tries to tear down Barack Obama, voters in battleground states have a favorable view of Obama by nearly a two-to-one margin: 64% favorable versus 35% unfavorable (Trump's at 42% favorable/55% unfavorable in battlegrounds)
Trump is absolutely sucking wind with the suburban women who helped deliver the House to Democrats in 2018 at 33% favorable/66% unfavorable; Biden is widely popular among the demographic, with 57% favorable/39% unfavorable
I don’t think Biden would be doing so well against anyone else. And I think Bernie works fare even better ~ especially now that Medicare For All looks different during a pandemic, eh?

ReplyDelete"As much as we despair over the state of our nation (Trump’s approval ratings should be 12% or lower), there are bright spots. The fact that the entire might of the conservative right-wing media machine has been unable to drag Pelosi down is one of them. The fact that McConnell is as unpopular as he is, despite a lack of liberal mass media, is another.
Sometimes, people do pay attention, and make the right choices. And thinking McConnell is a piece of shit is, undoubtedly, the right choice."
Hoping, hoping, hoping...
DeleteBill--I just ordered some lithography ink from a small manufacturer not far from you--in Villa Park. Most manufacturers only sell in sizes that are impractical for individual hobby use.
