Somehow I missed being here on Thursday! That's probably because I never sat down longer than three minutes all day. Instead, I had chicken soup on the stove, clarified butter, made olive oil mayo, red cabbage slaw, Wheatloaf, a dinner salad and apple-cherry-blueberry crisp. I had a Donna Reed Day. The western horizon even brightened, right on cue.
What Trump Wants From Lincoln Memorial Town Hall [Click] As memory serves me, according to Aesop it did not ultimately go well for the crow that dressed in borrowed feathers. . . But I suppose it would be expecting too much of Trump or his toadies to remember that warning.
"This deadly combination will lead to longer, more sustained outbreaks in rural regions, “making reopening much more challenging,” Andrew Pavia, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine, said at the IDSA briefing. “I think we’ve oversimplified this idea of peaks. We’re not seeing one epidemic nationwide, or even statewide — we’re seeing different outbreaks, thousands of them playing out in different parts of the country.”
I also note that where I grew up would be considered "rural" by federal census definition. Those of us living there thought of it as an almost mid-sized city. "Rural" meant the areas outside the city and its suburbs. (Yes, Pine Bluff had suburbs.)
America’s Built-in Protection Against Bad Leadership [Click] “We are cohesive enough to accumulate and exercise global influence but not so cohesive that, during a crisis, an incompetent or malign leader can lead the entire nation to ruin.” The author sounds in the current moment like a Pollyanna; but her argument is well worth consideration.
Good news for me. I'm scheduled to attend a mid-August convention in Columbus, and this increases teh likelihood it will actually be able to take place.
Michael Cohen's early prison release over coronavirus concerns rescinded. [Click] “Separately, Cohen received a letter from lawyers representing the Trump Organization demanding Cohen halt writing a ‘tell-all book’ about his time working for the president.” I wonder if there might be some connection. Ya think? If Mr. Cohen should be under the impression that there is some connection, it might prompt him to add something to his book, I suppose.

The problem is that the right hasn't even started on Hunter Biden yet. I'm not talking about Burisma. If there is a male version of a whore Hunter Biden is it. Because he is so without scruples or morals of any kind it leads some credence to the idea that he may have learned that behavior from his father. I do not accept Joe's word that "it never happened".
Today, VT Gov Phil Scott said that next week he will be announcing new “family connections” steps! This is because we have stretched our cases-doubling-rate to every 84 days...!
Today’s press briefing is now available at WCAX’s website. He mentions this in Part 1 just before they show the latest graphs.
Whoo hoo! When WCAX did the news briefing today, the graphs they showed were tiny and indiscernible. So I wrote to WCAX and asked if they could put the charts on their website or FB page. And guess what. They sent me a link to see the actual charts! So cool! Check this out:
I feel like such a dolt! We went over to the local Stone shop to look at Slate and stones for landscaping. We called ahead and were just planning to look around before checking pricing. But the elderly gentleman who runs the site came up behind us and asked what he could do to help. I actually started to walk over to him without my face mask on and he asked me to keep distance.
=DUH!!=
I can’t believe I did that! I have been so careful for so long! All it takes is beIng in a very different setting to forget myself? Yikes!!

Column: Joe Biden’s denial of Tara Reade’s charges was necessary but not enough. Clarence Page is the one Tribune columnist I genuinely respect. I wish I had time to read his columns regularly.
