People have been mentioning having strange dreams during the pandemic. How about you? Anything surprising? I haven't had any strange dreams that I'm aware of. Wil has had enough of them for both of us, though. He has even had dreams that feature COVID-19. He has been working insanely hard because there have been little work fires to put out for over a week. So I figure he just hasn't had time to process the stress during the day. Apparently, I have. How are you doing? How is your stress level? I must say it has helped me so much to have this little community to come to and just hang out with. And we can support one another as we muddle along. Thanks so much.
I think we're getting along all right, considering. I had an odd dream just before waking several days ago, but don't remember anything else about it. After getting up, I was able to describe it to my sweetie, which is a trifle unusual on its own. We were afraid one of our cats was dying, but he got over whatever it was, to our considerable relief.
The Art class, even though online, is helpful, as is HEP. My sweetie gave me a haircut, as she has for a long time. (Before that I cut my own hair for about 15 years.)
My yeast culture made from the frozen bread dough is moving right along.
Alan, I was just reading an email from King Arthur Flour and they were giving a recipe for beer bread where beer is the "yeast". Long ago I made beer bread and it's pretty good.
Lovely to hear that King Arthur flour is helpful to friends even outside Vermont. I have been to their facility many times. They have a bakery, store, school and cafe. The cafe serves fresh bread (as you might imagine!) as well as sandwiches, soups and pastries, specialty coffees and teas. It's quite wonderful. The store has everything you can imagine for a kitchen, and quite a few things you've never dreamed of, as well. Everyone there is so very nice. I know the CEO's wife and have been to their home. Log cabin with view. Very solid, kind and good folks.
"Donald Trump is hyper critical of China for lack of transparency when the virus first hit Wuhan and for silencing the Dr. who blew the alarm and ID'd the virus as a novel corona strain. MEANWHILE IN IOWA with ZERO transparency of testing and metrics used we are going to be guinea pigs for turning the pandemic loose. The EXACT thing Trump is accusing China of having done."
New book: Is the Republican Party Destroying Itself? [Click] IMO it is enough to read all of the cover blurb. The author seems to be under the impression that the GOP’s established course is somehow reversible, in the short term even.
America First [Click] “Priorities USA Action launched a brutal new TV ad tying the mounting coronavirus death toll and economic turmoil to President Trump’s failure to adequately prepare for and respond to the crisis.” I haven’t watched it yet, but it sounds promising. We need another “Daisy” campaign advertisement; or maybe several—the election is quite a ways off yet. And there’s a huge trove of material.
To clarify one point: Two failed attempts have made it clear that the proposed amendment cannot be drafted so as to affect nothing other than the powers of the General Assembly, which means it cannot be put o the ballot by citizen initiative. It has to come from the General Assembly itself.
I was impressed that Vermont does well from here with minimal restrictions. But, oh my goodness, look at Iowa! (They are a mess under their current minimal restrictions!! And California really needs to be careful. See what you think.
Thanks. This helps give me a feeling for whether it would be feasible to have the Disability Pride Parade in late July. Answer: Probably not. We'll be at the very tail end of the pandemic by then, but not soon enough for fundraising and to get the necessary infrastructure in place.

Iowa tells residents to return to work or lose their unemployment benefits.

DeleteI watched it; not bad. But I think not as strong as "Daisy" was at the time. But maybe I am simply jaded.
DeleteAs deadline to pass constitutional amendment looms, Illinois lawmakers fear missed opportunity for redistricting reform. Specific to Illinois, but maybe of interest to anyone who wants fair redistricting everywhere.

Here is a very cool simulator tool by which to see how various states will fare under current intervention or minimal restrictions or lockdown.
