President Donald Trump says he wants the nation "opened up and just raring to go by Easter" -- a date just more than two weeks away that few health experts believe will be sufficient in containing the spread of coronavirus. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/24/politics/trump-easter-economy-coronavirus/index.html?fbclid=IwAR0qopuW-vVsAC0oQFCz8qfZxvtSmxDtOHI4T1Zt6I2yNomhSO_yC9tpqGw I just called all my Congress members and Governor to express my outrage and my hope that they will show leadership and mitigate this insanity. I also called the White House comment line. After 23 min on hold, as I was leaving my message, when it became clear that I was not happy, I was cut off.
I see that Gov. Cuomo is carrying on about NY needing 30,000 ventilators. There's just a teensie problem with getting that many: they couldn't use them. There aren't enough respiratory therapists in NY. Physicians and nurses don't know any more about operating ventilators in a way that won't kill the patient than your average hod carrier. (Hmmmm...dating myself; there probably haven't been any hod carriers in the US of A for a long time. But you get the idea.)
When I first posted the Ohio COVID count on 3/13 there were 16 cases. Today, 3/24 we have 564 confirmed cases and 8 deaths. And those confirmed cases are only for those who have been tested. I have read elsewhere that for each *confirmed* case there are probably six that have *not* been confirmed. That means there's a whole lot more COVID-19 roaming the streets that we're unaware of.
In one small Italian city everyone was tested. As memory serves me, about 60% of the positive test results were in people who were asymptomatic (at the time, anyway). By quarantining those people as well the local transmission rate dropped to zero.

SIX LITTLE STORIES WITH LOTS OF MEANINGS
(1) Once all the villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer, all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella. That is faith.
(2) When you throw babies in the air, they laugh because they know you will catch them. That is trust.
(3) Every night we go to bed without any assurance of being alive the next morning, but still we set the alarms to wake up. That is hope.
(4) We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That is confidence.
(5) We see the world suffering, but still, we get married and have children. That is love.
(6) On an old man's shirt was written a sentence 'I am not 80 years old; I am sweet 16 with 64 years of experience.' That is attitude.

“Sen. Bernie Sanders plans to participate in the Democratic presidential debate in April if one is held, his campaign said on Tuesday, the strongest indication yet that he plans to continue competing against Joe Biden in the 2020 primary for the foreseeable future,” the New York Times reports.
“The Democratic National Committee has said previously that there would be a debate in April, but one has not been scheduled.”
I think it makes absolute sense for Bernie to stay in through the debate because that is an excellent platform to advocate for his ideas. It wouldn't surprise me, personally, if he suspended his campaign shortly thereafter.
Said one White House reporter: “[The White House COVID-19 briefings] are a clown show, just a daily advertisement for Trump. He’s smart to do them, dominating earned media and blocking out the sun for Biden.”
Please remind me why Biden is the candidate most likely to be able to defeat Trump. Aside from being the anointed one. Like HRC. and Jeb!
This is all the work of the Democratic Establishment desperate to protect *their* status quo. It was not an accident that every single losing democratic contender endorsed Joe *right before Super Tuesday*. Even Beto O'Rourke who had trash talked Biden in TV interviews endorsed him. And I saw a screen grab from Jon Bush who managed Pete's campaign who said that Obama had called Pete and asked him to drop out and endorse Biden. Jon said Pete said "no", so the DNC pulled ALL their support and money and left him no choice.
Joe Biden is visibly fading away. He is vague, wispy, loses his train of thought and is almost ghost-like in his appearance and speech. His faculties are visibly diminishing in real time, on film and yet the DNC persists. I do not believe he can beat trump. He's too weak. Like Hillary Joe wants to be President "just because". It's for himself, not for us. And I just returned a letter from President Obama asking for money for Democratic Unity or some such bullshirt and told him NO. Until the Democratic Party lets the base CHOOSE THEIR OWN NOMINEE I will never send them money.
I can't decide whether the DNC are truly too firmly implanted in their own collective navel to realize that by nominating Biden in a desperate bid to save themselves they are actually committing suicide, or whether they want Trump to win.

All the shutdowns I know anything about are state and local. Trump has nothing to say about it.

DeleteTrump wants to see "packed churches" all over America on Easter. What a toxic dumbass!
ReplyDeleteFull moon is April 7th, and Easter is April 12th this year. So everyone can easily attend both their coven and church!
DeleteHe’s a selfish, greedy fool.
DeleteGood thing we have separation of church and state!

Has anyone heard from Joe Biden in the last week or more? I only note things Bernie is championing but is that just because I'm a constituent?
