Filing for Illinois' mid-March primary is now complete. (For some reason, presidential candidates filed a month after everyone else.) Thirteen candidates filed. Seven of them didn't put forward any delegate candidate slates; that doesn't keep them from winning delegates but is an indication of their lack of organizational strength. Bernie and Liz were the only two to file full delegate slates, although Joe was close. Andy, Amy, and Mayor Pete filed partial slates.
I think the fact Mayor Pete didn't file a full delegate slate in the state next-door to his is fuarther confirmation that he is betting everything on Iowa and New Hampshire. If doing well there doesn't give him a BIG boost elsewhere, he's toast.
Iran officials hint [on Twitter! at possible attacks on Trump properties [Click] You need to talk to people in a way they will understand. Trump would understand “Nice little _______ you got there; it’d be a shame if anything happened to it.” Iran doesn’t have to do anything beyond dropping hints, I think. That should be enough to make Dear Leader panic.
An article I read some time ago attributed the final Norse disappearance to two consecutive crop failures. They literally starved to death. It may be noted that, while the Norse disappeared, the Inuit in the same area did not.
There had been speculation that the Norse didn't adapt to the local food (i.e. fish) as a dietary mainstay, which gave the Inuit an advantage. But analysis of their bones indicated that they did in fact eat more and more fish as time went by. Another possibility is that their numbers decreased to the point that the group couldn't survive a bad period. I remember reading a fascinating report of the investigation of a Norse farmstead up a fjord in West Greenland. Evidently they were snowed in--humans, dogs and cow--and died one after another. From the ectoparasites (fleas and lice) it was possible to figure out the order in which they died.
I am reminded of the discovery of what was evidently a seasonal Norse-Dorset trading post on Baffin Island. One of the interesting Norse trade goods was rope made of rabbit fur; evidently the Dorset people's equivalent of rope and cord was very thin pieces of marine mammal skin knotted together.
Pentagon Rules Out Striking Iranian Cultural Sites [Click] So now Esper is a traitor, I suppose. Very typical progression, second step: Trump says something crazy, his staff/administration says he didn’t really mean what it sounds like, then he shouts out that is exactly what he meant. So, will the soldiers/sailors/airmen/marines refuse to follow illegal orders? Do the Nuremberg Principles still apply?
Yes, very happy! Enjoy!
