I couldn't find a link other than to the comments. It's not clear to me how the plan can survive without the penalty tax on freeloaders that the Republicans killed.
A classmate in my home town (N. California coast) tells me their power was shut off for five days. About time to investigate alternative sources for refrigeration and lighting, methinks.
A modern wood stove and a set of solar-powered LED lanterns would go a long way. A propane powered refrigerator/freezer is rather expensive and uses fossil fuel, but is independent of electricity. When I was little we had free natural gas from the well in the gully behind our house. (Oil prospectors were active in the area at one time, but the reservoirs were broken up into uneconomically small pieces.)

ReplyDeleteGo Solar! It will generate your own electricity and your heat pumps can be hooked up to it. So you’d have cooling and heating as needed!
