    1. When and where I grew up, part of growing up was learning to recognize bullshitters. That ability seems to have atrophied among many people these days.

    1. Subtitle: Honesty in America from Washington to Trump

Kinda makes you want to buy and wear a whistle...as a silent form of solidarity.

  4. Biden Scales Back Digital Ads [considerably] [Click] First we saw that his fundraising was of the flash in a pan variety; then his burn rate was too high—his reserves were declining significantly instead of increasing like those of his principal opponents. And South Carolina votes too late to save him, IMO. The handwriting is on the wall. Trump will probably think and say it is because of his accusations re nonexistent goings-on in Ukraine, but I think it is simply because Biden is not an appropriate candidate for these times.

The NYT Daily reports that before the whistleblower filed a formal complaint with inspector general for the Intelligence Community, he or she tried to do it through the CIA’s internal watchdog system. But the White House found out and quashed it. So the whistleblower escalated.

    1. Today I bought a whistle to wear in silent solidarity. It comes as a two-pack. One is on a lanyard and the other on a coiled bracelet. Fashion options! LOL!

    2. I'm thinking the nation needs a candidate that doesn't come with a ton of baggage.

      Warren is looking better.

I love Bernie, but as a Vermonter I'm miffed at him at the moment. I've said as much to his people, too, with no response. So I got off their mailing list. Then a volunteer texted me asking for a donation. So I explained my position at the moment. They handled it well and wished me well. But no resolution.

    3. Our daughter's fifth-grade teacher had an English police whistle--much better than the standard US version with a pea in it. Made of chromed brass. His students all knew when HE was blowing his whistle from the sound.

I like Bernie too, and continue to send him small monthly donations. But I favor Warren more, and send a bit larger donations to her. Bernie seems to be suffering from some of the same managerial/organizational problems as last time. Lately he seems to be getting a bit desperate. I am a bit concerned about his age, too. Warren is an extremely vigorous seventy and has been running a near perfect campaign, and pre-campaign, for at least five years. There was the ancestry flap, but she got that out of the way. Her long-standing work for other members of congress has been largely under the public radar, but is no less important for that. Today it occurred to me to wonder if she might be left-handed...

    4. The only drawback for me with Warren means that we will not get Medicare for All.

    5. Alan, what makes you suspect that Warren may be left-handed?

Susan, we aren't guaranteed it anyway, even with Bernie. Congress would fight it. But...YEAH. I want it too.

    6. I consider "Medicare For All" to be aspirational; but I think we will get significantly closer to universal coverage in the next Democratic administration, one way or another.

I don't suspect that Warren is left-handed; but lefties have been over-represented among recent presidents, and one could joke that that would augur well for her.

    7. Turns out Elizabeth Warren is right-handed. I found a photo of her signing an autograph and sent it to you, Alan. It is not a photo one may share generally, as it has watermarks across it, so I won't post it.

    8. It's my understanding that Warren fully supports Medicare for All. I've seen several stories about how she is supporting Bernie's proposal rather than developing her own.

    9. Thanks, listener; I don't need photographic proof, though. It was just a wandering thought...

  7. Well, after some discussion, we decided to donate to both Bernie and Liz tonight. I sent the donation for Liz and Wil sent the donation for Bernie, so that he has a new name to count, as I've always done it before.

Bill Barr at the Center of the Story
    Josh Marshall
New piece in the Post says Bill Barr has personally been pressing various foreign countries to assist him in discrediting the Mueller probe and the U.S. officials who originally sounded the alarm about Russian interference in the 2016 election. He was in Italy doing this just last week. Bill has apparently repeatedly had President Trump press foreign leaders to cooperate with his efforts.
