Supergravity pioneers win $3m Special Breakthrough prize [Click] OK, this is interesting. It is a fairly easy to understand (with a bit of wikipedia searching) explanation of the melding of quantum mechanics and Einstein’s theory of gravity. It postulates the gravitino (not yet observed) as the corresponding partner of the graviton (also not yet observed); the former could be dark matter, and the letter is the means by which gravity is communicated. The whole thing is intimately related to string theory (which remains decidedly murky to me—nothing more than a pair of words).
