Orchids!

  1. imagine, here in Georgia, orchids grow in roadside ditches. Yellow fringed orchids are only about eight inches tall—easy to miss unless one has a special eye.

  2. Wild orchids are actually pretty widespread, but tend to be considerably less spectacular than the ones in the photo. I grew up on the north coast of California, and remember ones that grew about two inches tall--very easy to overlook.

  3. The Implosion of Jeremy Corbyn [Click] “The leader of the Labour Party not only has failed to confront anti-Semitism, but seems unable to acknowledge it as a problem.” This is something I have been trying to avoid considering, but it seems now well past that point.

    1. This moves me to reconsider my political donations. I gave Pete some support to make sure he could get into the formal debates; ditto, on a smaller scale with Mike Gravel. I have been donating equally to Bernie and Warren, but think I might add in what I was giving to Pete and readjust the balance toward Warren. Bernie seems to have enough money, and his organization's approach to me seems to be nothing more than repeatedly asking for money, which irks me a bit. Still nothing about his political positions on his web site, although there is now an events calendar.

  7. Trump Threatens To Send Detained Immigrants To 'Sanctuary Cities' As Retaliation

I hope he does. And I hope those people are lovingly cared for! (And so much for him being concerned about illegal immigrants entering the USA. He just doesn't want them in his city.

    1. I hope so too. (Oak Park is a sanctuary village.)

    1. It's been all over the news today, as it should be. On first seeing it t his morning, my immediate reaction was, "They'd be better off on the streets of sanctuary cities than in ICE custody." That may be unjust and untrue, but it certainly speaks to the perception of evil that hangs about Trump and his administration.

  9. The old INS was far more civilized than ICE; the agents were not only better screened and trained, their backgrounds were far different--not just cops and wannabe cops.
