  1. Lengthy NBC feature on Pete Buttigieg, the anti-Trump. [Click] I have half a mind to set up a small recurring contribution to his campaign, in addition to Bernie and Warren.

Elizabeth Spiers [Wapo]: Beto O’Rourke Is a Generation X Cliche [Click] Boy, the number of cultural references that escape me…

    1. I don't know much about Pete Buttigieg at this point, but I admit to being dazzled by the fact that he speaks so many languages. Can't remember the exact count or the languages, but it was up about seven or eight. Read that his mother was a linguist and that's why he is so multi-lingual.

    2. I notice that the article on Buttigieg says nothing about his policy positions except that he adroitly parried questions about policy in an interview. He is personally attractive, but I won't be supporting him until I know in more detail what he stands for.

  2. We had some fog this morning, but it has largely burnt off now (9 AM). Not any comparison.

  4. The B-Team: are Beto, Biden and Bernie the best Democrats can offer? [Click] It’s early days, indeed.

Food fight: can we have a presidential election without junk food photo ops? [Click] In the UK it is forbidden to photography the monarch (maybe the whole royal house—I don’t recall) eating, for the simple reason it is certain one will sooner or later look undignified while eating.

    1. Thanks for the photo, Alan. Absolutely amazing to have anything so clear and detailed of an object so far away.

    2. I tried to locate the original image on the NASA web site, assuming it would be even more detailed--but no luck. Lots of other stunning photos, though.

  5. Is the caption contest from last thread still open? If so, here's my entry.

  6. The Hidden Catastrophe of the Midwest’s Floods [Click] Farmers (I suppose notably including Big Ag) seem to have forgotten the lessons of the Dust Bowl that led to widespread formation of soil conservation districts.

  7. O fie! Mueller did *not* find collusion.

We will have to wait for an obstruction decision by the courts.

    1. DT and Trumpets are going to be absolutely insufferable.

590 Days until the 2020 Election, and counting.

    2. When are they *not* insufferable? All they do is peddle lies, hate and "owning the libtards".

    3. I was thinking they will be gloating insufferably.

  8. The Mueller Probe Was an Unmitigated Success [Click] “The scandal is how much corruption it exposed—and how much turns out to have been perfectly legal.”
It seems to me that fits exactly the legal definition of high crimes and misdemeanors.

    1. "Trump was never formally interviewed by Mueller."

      Did we ever hear why?

    3. Indirectly, we heard that his lawyers wouldn't allow it because they knew he was constitutionally incapable of refraining from lying.

  10. Do you know what? I heard the Mueller outcome and I had so little emotion about it that it surprised me. I’m not really sure why. I feel incredibly blank at the demoralisation of the nation. All three branches of government have failed us. I just want to get on with my life now.
